A young woman stared out the foggy window of the plane. Her soft blue eyes were half closed and a small smile played on her lips. She rested her chin on her hand and couldn't help the joy and excitement that played in her heart. Her long raven hair was pulled back in a braid; she pulled it over her shoulder and began playing with the tips of her hair.

Her name was Kagome Higurashi. A few years ago she traveled through Feudal Japan looking for the sacred Shikon shards (after she had accidentally broken it of course). During that time she had met someone special, she hadn't thought she'd see him again. But, as always, was proved wrong. A light snowfall fell past her window. She was ecstatic about returning to her hometown that she loved so much! A year of being away made her realize just how much she missed it. Though, it wasn't just the town she was delighted to be returning to it was the person who lived there. America was nice to visit, though New York was very crowded. Hailing a taxi had been loads of fun, it was almost impossible! She had learned quite a bit about the American culture, it had been fascinating! She had gone there for her father's sake. He was going through a tough time and she was more than willing to help him out. It seemed that her father knew just as much about Youkai as she did. They had been after him for a pendant he had; it now rested around her neck in protection. He had admitted that she knew more about fighting than himself. He couldn't hit a target with an arrow even if his life depended on it!

Kagome put her headphones on and turned on the music just wanting to relax. Her mind wandered to the young man waiting back in Tokyo. It had been a while since she had been there. He could have met a young woman, fallen in love, had kids, and didn't even spare Kagome a second thought! Kagome snapped her eyes open and berated herself for such thoughts. If he did get married she'd be happy, not sour. He's her friend and she'd love him no matter what. ! But still….looking out the window at her reflection her shoulders sagged. She could kill a youkai ten times larger than herself, yet she couldn't tell her best friend how she truly felt. He had stuck by her side when she told him her deepest secret, he had been there when her heart had been broken by Inuyasha, and she knew he would be there when she confessed her love for him.

Her heart jumped as the plane landed in the airport. Getting her luggage she started to trudge out of the crowded building. The ride home had been a long, lonely one. She smiled; her house was decorated for the holidays. Her cousin was so good to her. It was hard to miss the red headed young man waiting at her front door. His emerald eyes welcoming and loving. Kagome placed her luggage down and ran into his arms with a wide smile, she knew she seemed childish, but she didn't mind. Before she could say anything his lips descended on hers giving her enough courage to say the words she had longed to for so long. When they broke apart she looked him in the eye with a warm smile and said,"I love you."
