They shall be my finest warriors

These people who give themselves to me

Like clay I shall mould them

and in the fires of Arion I shall forge them

They shall be of iron will and steely sinew

with great gifts I shall give them

and with the mightiest weapons they shall be armed with

They will be untouched by plague or disease

no sickness shall blight them

They shall have such tactics, strategies and skills that no enemy would best them in battle

They are my bulwark against Chaos

They are the defenders of Humanity

They are my Hunsters

and they shall know no fear

- Lauriel, the ancient goddess of Arion -

Prologue

It was a rainy night in Gamindustri, monster slayers called Hunsters are all inside the Vetusare, the home to hunsters, sorcerers and monks. Vetusare is a large castle located at the northeast mountains of Gamindustri in the Hyper Dimension. A hunster with his face obscured by the dark from his hood, entered the tavern in the castle. It looked busy with people talking to each other, playing music, singing, and drinking of course. He shook his shoulders and pulled off his hood, revealing his white hair, a large scar over his left eye and cat like eyes, his yellow irises that glow in the dark and slitted pupils, all hunsters have those eyes. What he was wearing under his cloak was a black coat reaching to his ankles, a brown belt over his coat, another brown belt over his shoulder for his two swords, black leather gloves, black trousers and black leather boots. The hunster then proceed to take a seat next to an old hunster with grey hair and short beard. He inspected the medallion the hunster was wearing, it was the same one as his, a wolf head medallion. Medallions is what hunsters wear over the neck of their coats and shirts to detect magic or magical creatures. There are different kinds of medallions that hunsters could wear.

'Care for a drink, hunster?' A bartender approached and said.

'No.' The hunster said.

He was speaking in a soft and calm tone.

'You don't like to drink that much, Aithen' The hunster next to him said.

He was speaking in some raspy voice. The white haired hunster named Aithen sighed.

'Ves, I do not drink that much alcohol.' Aithen said.

'Relax, those mutations in you should help you not get drunk. You know what I mean.' Ves said.

'Whatever.' Aithen said.

Of course, there were claims that hunsters could drink more alcohol because of their mutations negating the effects of alcoholism. But since Aithen doesn't drink too much, he isn't really sure. The hunsters were given the mutations as part of their training when they were children. The mutations, also known as "The gifts of Lauriel", could be fatal and can kill recruits if they were not strong enough to endure it.

'Well, how was your investigation going?' Ves asked.

'Some progress, I have spied on two individuals part of the Arfoire Syndicate of International Crime. One is a green haired girl with a grey hooded shirt and one appears to be a talking mouse of some sort' Aithan replied.

'I see, what were they talking about?' Ves said.

'From what I could remember, I heard that they were looking for something called a "mascot". Not sure what it is but I'm sure that I will find out what is it.' Aithen replied

'Nice job. You look like you would want to do a quest, don't you?' Ves asked.

'Quite so.' Aithen replied.

'Very well, I have quest for you.' Ves said.

'For what?' Aithen said.

'In Lowee, there is a griffin to be slayed.' Ves said.

'A griffin? Why a griffin?' Aithen said.

'You have that crossbow of yours.' Ves said.

It's true, hunsters have a small crossbow along with their steel and sliver swords. The crossbow is used against flying creatures, the steel sword is mostly for humans and the silver sword is made specifically for monsters. They all carry these weapons on their backs, they have special scabbards designed to be held on their backs and to draw out their swords from it. The silver sword has the bars of its guard bent upwards to distinguish themselves from the regular steel sword.

'I guess you're right. I will accept that quest.' Aithen said.

Ves then proceed to take out a yellowed paper of the griffin quest and gives it to Aithen.

'The quest will be active tomorrow on afternoon.' Ves said.

'Glad that you said that.' Aithen said.

Aiden places the quest inside his brown bag. Suddenly, someone with dark clothing and a grey hood proceeds to sit next to Aithen and then takes off it's hood from the cloak. It was a female hunster, her age ranging from her late teens. She had dark hair and the same cat eyes of the hunsters. Her medallion is different. Instead of a wolf head, it's a cat head.

'Hey, Aithen. How's it going?' The female hunster said.

'I'm fine, Inna.' Aithen said.

Inna was one of Aithen's best friends when they first met when they were children in the Vetusare.

'Right, what were you doing with Ves?' Inna said.

'I was giving Ves the news about how my investigation of the disappearance of the four goddesses.' Aithen said.

'That's good, may I join in with your investigation?' Inna asked.

'Um, yes. You can but I have a griffin to settle with.' Aithen replied.

'Great, I will be with you after you finish with the quest.' Inna said.

Aithen stood up from his seat.

'Yes, I will see you tomorrow after I am done with this griffin quest.' Aithen said.

'See you tomorrow.' Inna said.

'See you.' Aithen said.

Aithen then walks away from the two and leaves the tavern, the rain had seemingly stopped.

In the next day and it is afternoon, Aithen is in Lowee with his brown horse to find the griffin for the quest. There where a bit of snow falling from the sky in the forest he is in. Suddenly, Aithen heard a screech, the screech of the griffin.

'That sound, the griffin is near!' Aithen thought to himself.

Aithen then proceed to gallop his horse towards the location of the screech. He went southwest of the forest and found a field where there is no trees but grass with little bits of snow in it. He then spots the griffin, a large eagle like creature, flying but appears to be chasing two girls that were running away from it. Aithen then proceeds to get off from his horse, takes out his silver sword from his back and run towards the griffin.

'A-a-a-a-h! Someone help us!' A girl shouted.

'Is anyone there?! Help us!' The other girl shouted.

As the griffin got closer to the girls, Aithen sticks out his hand and a flame of fire has been unleashed from his hand. The fire hits the griffin, causing it to fall to the ground as Aithen continued to use the fire spell at the griffin. The two girls then stopped running at looked at the hunster fighting the griffin. The griffin then screeches at the hunster and proceeds to fly away, but it's too late for the griffin to escape. As the hunster took out his crossbow from his back and fired at the griffin, sending it to the ground once more, the hunster then ran at the griffin and then proceed to slash and cut the griffin several times. Aithen then goes on it's back and slices the griffins head off completely. He then jumps off the dead griffin and wipes his bloody silver sword off with the decapitated griffin's skin and by swinging it.

'U-Um, thank you for...saving us.' A girl said.

Aithen then puts his silver sword back onto his scabbard and then turns to see the girls, one was wearing a blue dress and a pink bag while the other one was wearing a pink dress with a blue bag. The blue one had shorter hair while the pink one had long hair.

'Are you alright?.' Aithen said, kneeling down at the girls.

'N-No, we're fine.' The pink dressed girl said.

'That's good. Remember to not wander in the forests by yourselves, the creatures here could kill you.' Aithen said.

'O-Okay. Mister' The blue dressed girl said.

'Wait a minute, are you one of those people that go out killing monsters? My big sister had told us about that.' The pink dressed girl said.

'We are hunsters, that's what we call ourselves. And yes, we slay monsters.' Aithen said.

'H-Hunsters?' The blue dressed girl said.

'That's right.' Aithen said.

'Anyways, thanks for saving us.' The pink dressed girl said.

'You're welcome. And remember, stay out of trouble.' Aithen said.

'Right!' both the girls said.

The girls then ran away from the hunster. Aithen then takes the severed griffin head and ties it onto the left calf of his horse with a rope before getting on top of it and galloping away back to the Vetusare.
