Chapter 1- The meeting

Olivia Benson was beyond peeved. She was infuriated with her mother, her father whom she had never met, her so-called best friend and the woman who had taken her from her home and placed her into another abode with people she did not know.

She had been running for what felt like hours, her earphones in, music volume up. She had been ignoring the persistent burning in her limbs and lungs. She was forced to stop when she ran into someone's chest and bounced off of it. She held back a yelp as her backside made hard contact with the concrete pavement beneath her. Angrily she stood and whipped out her earphone.

"Sorry. Didn't see you there." The guy smiled at her.

"Well maybe you should get your eyes tested."

"I'm sorry."

"So you should be."

"Yo! Hurry up." The guy ran toward the people who had just shouted him.

Olivia put her earphones back in and ran back the way she had come from. She walked into the house she had been placed in and hang her light jacket on the small coat rack near the door before she was roughly grabbed at the top of the arms and turned forcefully.

"Where have you been?" her foster father demanded.

"Around." She grumbled.

"Where?"

"Well I went to… It's none of your business."

"Never talk back to me." He said as he whacked her round the face. She held her now stinging cheek in her right hand. Swiftly she turned to the door and walked out before slamming the door loudly.

She walked briskly to Central Park the only place she could calm down. She sat down on the bench nearest her. Her hands shock with sheer anger. She was so absorbed in her thoughts that she did not hear a person walk to her.

"Sorry 'bout earlier." She visibly jumped and swore "Sorry didn't mean to startle you."

"It's ok." She replied her as he sat down beside her " I never got your name."

"Olivia Benson."

"Hi Olivia I'm Elliot." He smiled "Where do you live? I'm not a stalker. I think your cool, I'd like to be friends."

"I live with the Robertson's." She said.

"I live just up the street from you. What school do you go to?"

"Grover Cleveland High School."

"Oh same we could walk together if you want."

"Ok thank you Elliot."

"It's fine Liv."

"What did you call me?"

"Liv I hope you don't mind."

"As long as I can call you El than yep." Olivia smiled.

"Deal. This is the start of a beautiful friendship."

Olivia chuckled. For the first time since her mother's arrest she had a genuine smile gracing her lips. Elliot studied her face as she smiled and quickly noticed how her eyes twinkled and two small dimples appeared either side of her mouth. For a little while the anger that had held beautiful chocolate orbs captive was non-existent.

"Where should I meet you tomorrow then?"

"I'll knock for you."

"No you don't have to do that. What about if I wait for you outside on the sidewalk?"

"OK well school starts at 8 so if I meet you at 7. Are you ok with that?"

"Yeah that's fine. I'll need to go to the principle first thing to get my timetable."

"Ok then I can give you a tour of the school. Come on I'll walk you home."

Olivia was hesisant
