Author's Note: This is a response to the WIKTT Cross-dressing Challenge.
I'm sorry this chapter is so short, I fully intend to write again soon.
Please review and tell me what you think so far!
Disclaimer: I do not own any of the Harry Potter characters, and I'm sure J.K. Rowling would find it very disturbing if she knew one of her fans had pictured Snape in a little black dress.
Chapter 1: An Unreasonable Assignment
"You want me to...WHAT?!!" Albus Dumbledore stared at the outraged man before him, not one bit surprised at his thundering outburst. Severus Snape was by no means an easygoing man, and even he himself had to agree that his request was somewhat...well, unreasonable.
"I'd never ask you if it wasn't for the good of the Order...think of it, Severus, hundreds, even thousands of lives could depend on this assignment. Please consider...you're the only man we've got with the skills as well as the means to do this. And it's the only way."
"There is nothing you could say that would change my mind about this. Good night, Albus". Attempting to stay calm, Severus quickly left the room and shut the door, storming down the corridors to his dungeons. He was extremely devoted to the Order of the Phoenix, Albus and every single member must know that, but they had gone too far. True, the job they had given him did fit into his job description...sort of. He was a spy for Dumbledore, pretending to be a member of Voldemort's inner circle while leaking top-secret Death Eater information straight to the Order of the Phoenix. However, the Order was currently seeking new methods of spying, not only on Death Eaters, but also on common, ordinary witches and wizards within Britain. Since Severus was so skilled at his occupation, they had immediately chosen him as the only one for the assignment, and he had quickly agreed, unfortunately before he had discovered the upsetting terms that came with it. Since he was a rather well-known member of the wizarding community, the Order had decided that they would need to take several precautions to ensure that he would not be discovered. It was just now that he had found out that these "precautions" included several complex spells to change his appearance to that of a woman's as well as him picking up cross-dressing habits. As if these disturbing terms weren't enough, he also had just been informed that the Order had appointed one of their youngest members, Hermione Granger, as his partner, claiming that only she could match his intelligence, something that was definitely needed for this mission to succeed. She was to meet him in the dungeons of Hogwarts the next morning, where they were to complete the charms necessary for his body to change into that of a woman's, and then go shopping in Diagon Alley, since he would obviously need some new apparel to be convincing. However, despite the fact that his body would be that of a female, his mind would remain unaltered from the charms. Before he could begin his mission, Hermione's greatest task would be to teach him the fine art of thinking like a woman...something that he could not possibly grasp on his own. The two of them would then travel together throughout Britain and find out vital information for the Order. Somehow, even the deepest part of his mind could not even begin to fathom what he had gotten himself into.
