Once you knew how, there were many ways to tell Yugi and the Pharaoh apart. For one thing, the way they held themselves differed as one had a confident stance that accepted any challenge thrown at it while the other was warm and open. The way they spoke and moved were similar to this, clearly announcing who was there if you paid attention. But their eyes revealed more than anything else did.

The Pharaoh's eyes held a mystery, a puzzle for anyone and everyone to solve, including himself. They held strength and pride and for a short while they had held insanity and despair. They were aloof and sometimes slightly baffled by the antics of his friends, usually Jounouchi and Honda. They were regal, and had an age about them without being old. They held justice and pain; questions and more questions. They were what Yugi wasn't and what he could be.

Yugi's eyes on the other hand were an open book from which every emotion could filter through unchecked. They held no malice, no matter what anyone had done or what desperate, crazy or evil situation he was in. They offered friendship and forgiveness and held a gentle strength that was formidable. You could see the cogs churn away in them as he strategized and analysed the field in front of him. They were what the Pharaoh needed and what he would learn.

While similar in many ways, if you knew when to look you would see the Yugi and the Pharaoh were could be as different as night and day.
