You Would Have Loved This

One-shot inspired by the song "You Would Have Loved This" by Tarja.

Note: All characters are from Final Fantasy VII, and it takes place after Zack's death.

Aerith looked out the window into the winter night before opening her journal and starting to write.

Dear Zack,

It snowed last night. It was so beautiful when the sun came up—it sparkled and reflected the sunrise. You would have loved it, Zack. I watched it for you.

Christmas trees are up and every available surface has something green or red on it. I put wreaths up in the church and stuck some mistletoe around. I also left a candle in a windowsill for you in case you want to find it. It's silly, I know, but it felt like the right thing to do. I know how much you love Christmas and preparing for it.

I miss you so much, Zack. I know I'll see you again in the Lifestream, but I want to hear you flirting with me and feel you holding my hand.

But most of all, I want to just see you again.

I love you, Zack.

P.S. I left my gift for you on top of the snow that came through the hole in the roof. I hope you'll see it. You would have loved this so much.

Aerith sniffed and closed the journal. "Merry Christmas, Zack," she whispered.
