Intense glares sparked between a harmless-looking goban. It was nothing unusual though, just another weekly glaring contest between two ambitious rivals.
The regulars at the salon sweat-dropped as the two of them calmed down and resumed the reviewing of their previous game as if nothing had ever happened. Again, it was common behaviour for them and most people in the room were already more than accustomed to their heated arguments, some even preferring to ignore them completely.
It wasn't before the two boys had exited the Touya go salon that the mood changed in an unusual way.
Without a warning, Akira quietly took the other boy's limp hand in his, turning away to cover up the faint blush creeping on his otherwise pale cheeks. Hikaru's dual-colored head snapped up, eyes widening slightly, before the surprise faded, instantly being replaced with a soft smile, and he automatically let his lightly go stone-callused fingers hug the cold hand connected to his. Feeling his own lips twitch upwards involuntarily at the response, Akira threw a bashful glance in Hikaru's direction from underneath his bangs as he returned the warm gesture.
It was like they had reached a mutual agreement; While they were rivals in front of the goban who got at each other's throats more often than an old married couple, they could both silently agree that they were so much more than that outside of go. And, even if they were not explored enough to be put into words, could there ever be a better time to let those unspoken feelings show a little?
"Merry Christmas, Touya."
Oho, this is such a short little ficlet. Not much to read here, but hopefully, some of you were still able to enjoy my little xmas oneshot, which was written simply because I really wanted to post something for xmas, despite having been busy this past week. I've actually stopped celebrating xmas since yesterday myself, but to those of you who are still celebrating (and everyone else as well) I say: Merry Christmas! :D
