She thought it would be easier, watching him simply talk to other women without her anger and jealousy flaring up. He would be going home with her at the end of the night and he was wisely keeping his hands to himself, accepting chaste kisses on the cheek but nothing more. It was the girls. The girls drove her up a wall, making Rick sign their chest and various other body parts in their skintight dresses that left nothing to the imagination.
Kate sat at the bar, telling herself she wouldn't pay any attention to them, they were no threat to her. It just bothered her that any self-respecting woman would act like that with a married man.
Kate sighed to herself, they weren't married yet. Three more months. But their engagement had been public, making Page Six as well as covers of a handful of magazines and he'd gone on talk shows promoting his newest book, but all he talked about was his fiancée. She was sure any fan of his knew.
She watched as a girl in her early 20s leaned on the table in front of Rick, giving him view of her ample cleavage. Castle kept his eyes down, until the woman put her finger underneath his chin and whispered something close to his ear. She rolled her eyes, remembering what Lanie had told her a year ago about marking her territory. If this girl needed a message sent, Kate would be the one to send it to her.
She swallowed the rest of her drink then walked over to the table set up he had, coming up behind him and putting her arm around his shoulders, making sure the girl in front of them, as well as every other woman in line, got a good look at the diamond on her finger. "Hi, honey," she said, pulling a chair up next to him, so close she was nearly in his lap.
"Hello, dear," he said with a smirk then placed a quick kiss on her lips, making a couple women in line walk away in disgust, including the one who Kate had interrupted. "Nice kitty," he whispered before he looked up. "I'm gonna take a ten minute break. I'll be right back."
"Are you ok?" he asked as they walked away from the table to the bar, his arm around her waist. She was a little bit drunk but not even when she'd had far too much to drink, which coincidently was when she was usually most affectionate in public, did she act like that.
"I'm fine. Just sick of those girls… you'd think once you were off the market they'd back off a little bit."
He smiled. "Well, everyone likes a challenge, right?" He pulled her close to him. "There's nothing for you to be worried about though."
"I know." She took a breath, trying to calm down as he continued smiling at her. "What?"
"You're cute when you're jealous." He watched her eyes, gleaming green. She truly was the green-eyed monster.
She rolled her eyes, leaning her forehead against his. "Sign one more set of boobs and I'll get down right adorable."
