Make you proud
Note: Dedicated to my Ampaw, my Granddad and my goofy dad who taught me to never give up.
Clark is alone. It's raining. It was supposed to be a beautiful summer day.
Words from his past haunt him.
"This is your destiny son. You are gonna touch the lives of so many people. But not just as a man, but as a symbol. You're a symbol of peace, a symbol of justice."
Clark returns to the present in a cemetery. Not able to speak, with so much to say.
"I'm trying so hard to live up to that."
"I'm trying to save everyone. I saved countless people every single day."
Clark's voice cracks.
"I saved this little boy from a fire." Clark manages to say. "He was so scared, all he could think about was his dad."
"Please save my daddy he said."
Though unnoticed by the rain , tears began to fall from his face.
"I was stupid, I told him that I told him that Iwould find him." Clark breaks down, and falls to his knees. "I said it would be all right."
"I told him it would be alright." Clark repeated.
"I went into the building, and I found out that I was to late. I couldn't save this kids dad, just like you."
Clark is racked with pain, but gathers his strength.
"But you taught me better than that."
Clark picks himself up and stands tall.
"You taught me to never give up. I won't ever give up, I promise."
"I will make you proud. Happy Father's Day Dad."
Clark walks away as, within seconds the rain comes stops and the sun comes out.
"We didn't find you, son. You found us." - Jonathan Kent
Happy Father's day everyone!
