~underground secret facility; location unknown
The three watchers, walked down the halls of the facility. Conversing about the rituals that is expected to be performed, as sacrifices of chosen few around the globe as entertainment and praise to the gods in return of safe haven for the world to continue. And if the sacrifices are not met as required, the world shall perish.
In each country, a prophecy or ritual is prepared with the chosen victims to be sacrificed in order to save billions of other planetary individuals in trusting of keeping faith that this will please the gods and they'd remain below. If the rituals fail, then the world would cease to exist. This is one task, the favourable heroes just may admit defeat of never able to accomplish victory against the old ways of pleasing the gods that only pleasure of entertainment is watch mortals sacrifice eachother for continuance of their existence.
The questions of whom will be chosen is never easy as those whom will forever be stained by the blood of those they sacrifice for their own selfish desire to continue living. And the decision of choosing whom should be sacrificed in order to save others; never justifies those whom placed judgement unto those, whom's blood was spilt as a offering.
Sad but true, what to do when some prophecies demand so much of those whom are destined to die for others to live happy and continuous boring but fleeting lives, unknowing that their fate can be alter within a second without even realising that fate has a cruel way of humor.
