~Savin' me~
I met him while looking for a friend. He swayed in the doorway of the Club, the flashing lights spilling from inside bathed his sweating face with a sickly pallor. His eyes half-crazed and the focus blurry looked me over head-to-toe.
"This ain't a place for a girlie like you." He said, his voice slurred and breath thick with alcohol consumption blew over my face. I was used to handling drunks. My own father was one; maybe that's why mom was divorcing him. Just couldn't take it anymore.
"Out of my way." I said, ignoring his partial step from the doorway closer to me. He bent slightly and I tilted my face up to stare him directly in the eye. I wasn't afraid. Most likely this guy would pass out soon. I wondered if any of the guys sitting at the bar just visible to me from here were his friends. Maybe they would take him home.
"Girlie—" he tottered some and my hands shot out, bracing him on the chest. He was tall, a lot taller than me even wearing a good two-inch heel. His jacket read To-oh University. So he was a college boy. That explained it. I helped him inside to an unoccupied stool. His blood-shot teal blue eyes lifted and stared at me. "Wh-who are you?"
I didn't want to give my name out to a complete stranger, especially an intoxicated college jock so as I moved away, my head half-turned scanning the back tables for my friend, I muttered, "your guardian angel."
He looked after me a moment, stunned, then burst out laughing.

I didn't even know his name, as he didn't mine.
I didn't care one way or the other.
As far as I was concerned he was just a guy in need of help.
We probably wouldn't see each other ever again.
