Aradia stumbled into her hive, tears running down her face in small streams. It wasn't supposed to happen this way. Sure he was bipolar, but he didn't have to do THAT. It was too much for her to see him like that, broken, weak. She was flushed for him, no, she LOVED that boy. That stupid, geeky, bipolar boy. And he did that. Why did he have to protect her? Why couldn't it have been her? Her lusus tried to comfort her, patting and rubbing her back, but she didn't feel it, the pain grinding the comfort down to a low thud. She pushed the snow white creature away and ran into her room, locking the door.
The movie ended the way she knew it would, she had practically memorized the movie. Troll Indiana Jones was her hero. But he could only do so much. She had watched that movie with him so many times. He would always complain, but deep down she knew he enjoyed spending time with her like that, her head in his lap, his hand on her side. Now he was never ever ever coming back. They said it was just a coma, he was only asleep, but the girl knew. She knew from the looks in their eyes and the tone of their voices. They all rang out loud and clear, 'Your boy is gone'. They told her it wasn't her fault, it could have happened to anyone, but she didn't believe their lies. Their filthy lies. Oh how those lies haunted her. The maroon blood climbed into her recouperacoon, sobbing for the days they could never spend together. Then she spied her whip. It was sturdy. It would work. She knew it was over the moment she tied the knot that there was no going back...

At nine sweeps Sollux Captor opens his eyes. They brim over with tears, but why, he doesn't know. A nurse that comes in is utterly dumbfound by him sitting up. It hurts to sit up, it truly does, but he ignores it. She scuttles out of the room, returning with a doctor. The doctor examines him, pinches and pokes, asks where it hurts the most. Sollux goes with it until the doctor gets him to lay back down, he does, but under one condition. He gets to see someone. And who else would it be but Karkat. Karkat Vantas, the only troll besides Sollux of the original group not to be sent off planet. When Sollux sees Karkat he only has one question, one which makes Karkat turn away, the answer one he doesn't want to reveal. His first question from after the coma. "Where is Aradia?" It takes a while for Sollux to coax the answer out. He finally does, and it isn't pretty. He cries and sobs and for the first time in his life, the first he can remember, he only feels one emotion. That emotion is sorrow.
