I meet up with Kinley after seventh period and walk to her locker. This is my favorite passing period of the day because I get to see him.
He just happens to be a senior who will be leaving our school in a few days, since he will be graduating.
He is in robotics (we're on the same team),
drama (he's on the tech crew and I'm an actor in it) and in my jazz band (he plays percussion and I play clarinet). We've been friends since January-ish, but have grown a lot closer since the production of Oklahoma at our school.
I always give him a hug and talk to him during this passing period. He walks me to the stairs where we split where he goes to Stage Craft and I go to Spanish. I had grabbed my Spanish stuff before 7th period, so I just walked with Kinley to her locker. I was talking about him because lately, I haven't been able to get him off my mind. No matter how hard I tried. I started talking to Kinley about how much I got frustrated because he told me that he has a crush on a girl that we had met at a robotics tournament. I then went on to how he's a Senior and I have no chance with him and how I really like him and that I don't even know how to explain my feelings.
Kinley was digging though her locker and said, "Don't worry, Nora! He'll fall in love with you one day!" She finally finds her Spanish book and looks up at me. She gets the goofiest grin on her face and starts giggling uncontrollably. I ask her, "Why are you laughing at me?
This is a serious matter!" I then laugh after I say that because I can't stay serious for very long at all.
Suddenly, someone puts their hands on my waist. I can tell that they are behind me. I begin to turn around and see that it's him. My chocolate eyes meet his and he whispers to me, "It looks like that day that you couldn't wait for came sooner than you expected." He gives me a cute smile, grabs my hands and then kisses me on the top of the head. All I could do was smile like an idiot. He asks, "Are you doing anything after school?" I shake my head,
dumbfounded. He smiles at me and says, "I'll take you to Starbucks for a coffee and so I can explain some things. I gotta go. Talk to you later, cutie." He smiles his adorable smile and walks away.
I turn to Kinley and we both have the biggest smiles on our faces. We both squeal. She tells me "I TOLD YOU SO! I KNEW HE WOULD END UP LIKING YOU EVENTUALLY!" We kept squealing and giggling on the way to Spanish class. The entire class period we kept making eye contact and giggling to ourselves. Mrs. Maxwell yelled at us multiple times to pay attention. She almost made me leave the classroom because I wasn't paying attention. But how could I when I was going out on pretty much a date with a guy that I really liked after school which was in less than 45 minutes. I sit through 8th period in a dazed state with the occasional giggle because of Kinley. How was I supposed to focus on conjugating verbs into present progressive tense when all I can think about is the scene that just happened, when class is over, and what type of explaining he has to do. Finally, after what seems like an eternity, the bell rings. Kinley and I spring out of our seats so fast that I almost knock over my desk. We gather up our things at lightning speed. We practically sprint to my locker. She tries to fix my hair while I'm packing up my backpack so I can go to Starbucks with him.
She gives me a hug and whispers, "Go get'im, Buggy!" I smile at her and laugh and say thanks back.
I walk up the stairs to the commons and see that he is standing their nervously, but adorably. I walk up to him and say hi and smile shyly.
He smiles back and says, "Hi! Ready to go?" I smile awkwardly and say yes.
