She was the only one who could tame the monster inside him.

When Sora turned into his Antiform, he was relentless: he had the exact characteristics of a Heartless and showed no mercy. He was controlled by his darker self, a vicious drive that put him in all-around attack mode, destructing everything that crossed his path.

Even his best friend didn't stand a chance when he lost himself.

It was the first time he had changed in front of her, but she refused to be alarmed by his feral behavior. She had been warned about it by Riku when they arrived back at the island – it appeared now that Riku had to be warned himself.

The silver-haired teen let out a strangled yell, his keyblade blocking the dark silhouette of the form he was fighting. It thrashed at the barrier, gnashing its canine teeth and narrowing its moon-yellow orbs for eyes; orbs that contained no human significance. The darkness flowed over The Road to the Dawn, an indestructible force that had no abhorrence to metal.

She ran over to the scene with her own keyblade in tow. However, she knew she wouldn't have to use it. Her heart was her weapon, especially when it was connected to Sora in such a way, having dwelled within his own heart for so long.

Riku was able to push the creature back; Kairi intercepted, placing her hands on her hips and giving the monstrosity her best stern look.

"Stop it! You stop that now, Sora. Can't you see that you're attacking your friend?"

The creature mewled, its ghastly body restless with anxiety to rape, to harm, to murder.

"You listen to me, Sora. I know you can hear me somewhere in that darkness of yours."

Its flowing arms twitched as a graceless response.

She took a few steps closer. From behind her, Riku cautioned her to not go any further, that Sora was unconscious of what he was doing. She ignored him, balling her fists. She and the Antiform were now nearly nose-to-nose ( a nose which was indistinguishable in his state ), and she could feel its hot, animal breath against her face.

Then, Kairi dared herself.

She buried her face into his chest, the tendrils of black-and-violet smoke immediately wrapping around her arms and torso in a strange embrace. The teenager beat her tiny fists into his stomach, slashing at the darkness.

"You don't do that. You don't hurt your friends."

Feeling herself being pressed closer to the once-Sora with unbelievable strength, she was reminded of a time when Selphie had lost her footing on a reef in the ocean and plunged down into a deep crevice. Trying to save her, she had thrown her arms around the girl – but Selphie had the same idea. Her friend had dragged her down, and she could feel herself drowning in the black water. If not for Wakka and Tidus, who came to their rescue, she would have died in that liquid darkness that used to be her ally.

She threw back her head and looked up into those ominous pools for eyes. She could almost see his reflection shining within them.

Their lips met as she resisted, kissing him deeply and wishing away all his insecurities, absorbing his darkness within herself. Though her eyes were closed, she imagined the inky blackness enveloping his body fading as he kissed back.

She was flirting with darkness, but it was sweet darkness.

I don't own KH.

This is dedicated to Gray-Rain Skies, because she dared me to write a Kaiora because I talked smack about it ( thas' right, ho ). I was going to PROVE TO HER that I could write even my hated pairings. It didn't really turn out like a Kaiora, but I like it, anyways. Now she has to pay me back with a… KAIRIKU. :O

And, y'know. I love her and she deserves a lot of fics dedicated to her. ♥
