Ne'er Twixt Shall They Meet
Dusk encroached upon the Fire Nation Capital.
The flaming son's trail lead the moon gently towards the home of the Setting Sun, in the far west. Across the ocean, the moon pulled her young lover towards his captured friends, the three benders stuck with the accursed witch. From the hold of the ship they had taken, he, his sister, and the Dragon of the West prepared to storm the Capital. The crew, Fire Navy Deserters, aimed the ship ahead towards the harbour. Water and Fire dealt any threat a harsh blow, while the moon's lover used the Gifts of Ni to force away the metallic ships.
The Avatar slept in the hold, communing still with the unconscious body of Ni, whilst the great Phoenix watched them. His one eye felt for Ni, hoping to grasp the life it granted to eyes like his. A disturbance was the only warning before the ship shook and the captain's shoddy steering scared the spirits below, within the holds.
The shuddering which told the spirits they had crashed vibrated throughout the metal walls. Ni awoke, its eyes fluttering open, still unseeing. The Avatar, forced back, felt the spirits themselves move closer towards the Capital, awaiting the greatest clashes of all time. He knew of his battle with Ozai, but the spirits were awaiting a battle much greater, one that would kill both.
The arrival on land found the Phoenix dazed when the moon's lover arrived, along with his sister. The witch fled, but Ni, the moon's lover, and the assassins gave chase. The Dragon of the West showed the path to the Avatar, while the Phoenix and the sister of the moon's lover prepared to kill one another.
"You are a pain in my side, girl. Leave me in peace, and our business shall be done." She stubbornly refused to move, instead hitting him with a wave from the shore. The wave froze over him, trapping him for only moments.
Beside Ni, the moon's lover was at his strongest. The Fire Nation's mettle was nothing over the Gift of Ni, turning their strength against them. Ni turned its strength to preventing escape while the assassins struck with vicious rage. But the moon's eye, along with that of the son, was turned towards the Clash of Twilight. "I only want to end this! Why can't you just leave me alone?" The restful Phoenix spoke from within the cold ice. His fire melted the ice, freeing him.
"All you've ever done is bring me trouble! First you destroyed my village, and then you stole my mother's necklace! You took Aang from the Northern Water Tribe, and now you're holding me back from being there when he finally defeats the Fire Lord! Stay out of my way for once and for all!" she said as the tides forced him away.
Undeterred, the Phoenix refused her words. "The Avatar cannot be the one to defeat my father! If I do not defeat him, I can never regain my throne! I can no longer regain my honour without defeating my father, which is something I can't do if the Avatar does… I cannot allow him to succeed!"
Fire seared the right eye of the girl, boiling her flesh and destroying her vision. No longer able to see from the wound, she bit back tears from her one good eye. "You BASTARD!" Ice flew from the ocean while she cried. Sharp icicles razed his skin, sliced his flesh, and forced him to bleed. The land was brought to move as she drew up the ocean in its entirety and released wave after wave of freezing water upon him. Finally, she drew unbelievable quantities of water into the air, sending it down at him, freezing him completely within an instant.
Outside the Capital, Katara cried herself to sleep before the frozen statue of her most hated adversary.
AN: My response to Zutara. Flame me, for those will go towards thawing Zuko, who will then kill Katara.
