Disclaimer: I don't own The West Wing.
This is set in Will's early days, around season 4. I just wanted to throw a short little something together about an Amy/Will encounter. Something about their characters tells me they wouldn't mix. Her unhearing intensity and his gentle sarcasm just don't seem like a match made in heaven. Please review!
"Who are you?"
A woman stood in Will's doorway. He had seen her around, and she was a memorable woman. Short black hair, pale skin, piercing eyes and a fitted pantsuit. Her eyebrows were quirked inquisitively.
"Who are you?"
"I asked first." He rolled his eyes. Her intense gaze didn't falter.
"Will Bailey. Your turn."
She nodded, apparently satisfied. "Amy Gardner. I'm the First Lady's Chief of Staff."
"Why have we not met?"
"I wouldn't know, because I'm still not sure who you are."
"I'm the Deputy Communications Director. I'm here for Sam Seaborn."
The mysterious Amy gave him a frosty glare. "Oh. You're Will Bailey."
"You didn't get that from the 'I'm Will Bailey' bit?"
She ignored that. "Do you know how many people were ahead of you to get this job? More qualified to get this job?"
"Well—"
"Of course you don't. You think you can just swoop in here and budge all of Sam's successors? Sam was a good man; he wouldn't have wanted someone like you to take his place."
"He's not dead. We met. We got along. We went out for pasta."
"I don't care about your pasta! My niece is one of the interns, how do you think she feels? You're screwing the system and everyone involved!"
"Amy—"
"I've got my eye on you, Bill Bailey." Amy stormed away.
"It's Will!"
