I woke up panting, I was sweaty and scared. The nightmares had started again. They stopped a while ago. I checked the time on my alarm clock. It was 5:08 am. I tried to go back to sleep but I simply couldn't. Mostly because I'm ADHD and to be honest I was a little scared but these nightmares were vivid. They show you exactly what you fear. For me it's losing everyone and everything; Mom, Annabeth, Grover, Thalia, Nico…Camp Half-Blood. My fatal fear was loyalty.
I got up and drank a glass of water and decided to take my pills. I needed sleep. Desperately. I was going to camp today. I would see everyone; Annabeth, Chiron, Clarisse, Tyson.
The pills didn't seem to work, they usually do. I uncapped the bottle of pills and smelled them. They smelled like….Oranges? They usually don't smell like that. Styx! They were Vitamin C tablets which also explained why they tasted so good. I knew exactly who put them there.
The Stoll Brothers: Travis and Connor. Well played, Stolls well played. They were buddies of mine from camp but also attended my school. Some kids from camp go to my school because it's close to camp. Some kids from camp lived in other cities and only came to New York for the summer, Like Annabeth.
The Stolls always pulled pranks on us. I usually don't mind but this time they were dead.
I closed my eyes and shifted on to my side. All I did was toss and turn. Curse these nightmares. They started when I was only twelve, when I found out I was a demigod. Yes, demigod.
You may not believe this but I am a demigod. If you don't know what a demigod is: it's the offspring of a god and mortal. Half god half human. I am a Greek demigod, Son of Poseidon. Being a child of a god means you come with a power, depending on your godly parent, like me I have power over water and my cousin, Thalia has power over lightning. She is the daughter of Zeus.
But if you wish you were one, you think it's cool. Think again. How much do you know about Mythology? Where there are gods there are monsters and demigods are monster-magnets.
Think I'm crazy? Then I envy you. I wish I was crazy but it's true. I've slayed so many monsters but they are never going to stop coming back. They are Immortal.
When I first found out I was a demigod, it was too much to handle. Gods, Titans, Giants, Monsters all wanted to kill me. Demigods don't live long. I'm lucky I'm even alive…..
I looked at the clock again. 5:33 am. I still had an hour to sleep till my alarm goes off. When your ADHD time travels slowly when you're bored but most demigods have it, it helps us in battle. We have dyslexia too, which helps us read and understand Greek.
I needed sleep tonight. It's a big day tomorrow. Thank the gods for no more school. I decided to do what my mom tells me to do to go back to sleep: Think about everything good. This wasn't hard for me at all. I was the optimistic one.
So I thought of Mom, Camp, The Ocean and Annabeth….err basically….all my friends…. I drifted off with happy thoughts to be greeted with another nightmare.
Next chapter will be better...this was just the introduction...this is gonna be fun...
