Inu-Yasha sighed, laying back on his tree branch as he watched the clouds float by above him. His mind was not on the clouds, as much as it was in them. Kagome and he had been growing closer and closer. He hadn't even noticed it. It was obvious that he was confused about her before their twosome expanded.
But being able to lose himself in the problems of others allowed his mind to slip, and not notice how natural it had become to think of Kagome in a more romantic sense. To hold her, or worry over her. To jump through the well and watch her sleeping when she was in her time, and sleep on the branch above her when she stayed with him in the feudal era.
And, after the events of a few days ago - how natural it had been to kiss her.
But that wasn't just natural. That was good. Damned good. Too good. He wanted to do it again. He wanted to do more. He gave another sigh, suddenly uncomfortable, and fidgeted on the branch, mindful of how close he was to the edge.
He gave his position a thought, and jumped.
"Kagome?" he said, tapping her on the shoulder, causing her to attention to shift from her chemistry book to Inu-Yasha.
He didn't say anything, and chose instead to convey his feelings with a soft kiss that slowly evolved into something bigger - something more passionate.
All of his life Inu-Yasha had been afraid to fall.
And today he decided to jump.
A/N: The semi-companion piece to "The Second Kiss". I am now SIXTEEN years old! Isn't that exciting? So if you wanna wish me a happy birthday, why not leave a review? I'll love you forever!
