She was just so tired.

Tired of pretending to be a love-crazed teenaged girl.

Tired of comparing every guy she sees to the one that broke her.

Tired of seeing and hearing her peers whisper behind her back about the things that make her different from them, the things that make her special.

Makoto was tired. She just wanted to stop trying and achieve the false things like freedom and happiness. She didn't want to die every time the defeat of a new Big Bad was about to occur. She especially didn't want to get born again just for the process to repeat over and over and over again.

Makoto listened as the rain fell harder and harder against the window she was currently looking through. Her emerald eyes blank from all emotions, yet the bags under them signifying the sleepless nights she's been having. Running a hand through her hair she waited, waited for that something to help brighten her life and remind her why even though she was tired, she just wouldn't give up.

When a knock was heard, flickers of lights ignited in her eyes, until it they appeared a dark but lively hue of forest green. Getting up Makoto picked up her purse and walked over to the door to put on her shoes and invite the other in from the rain.

"Hey"

"Hey, you look tired. Are you sure you want to go out tonight? I can always reschedule the reservations."

Makoto smiled, "It's okay, I got all dressed up, there's no point in staying home looking like this is there?"

"Well the lady wants what the lady wants, it's my responsibility to fulfill your needs then isn't it? Come on, my umbrella is big enough for the two of us."

Makoto looked toward her guest's hand where a small retractable umbrella was held. Raising an perfectly shaped brown eyebrow, she remarked, "Hmm, and how do you figure that? Unless you loss a large amount of weight and shrunk at least five inches, if we shared that umbrella the both of us would still get wet."

With a laugh her guest just shook his head, grabbing her hand and pulling her with him to the door. "Mako-chan, Mako-chan, Mako-chan, that's what cuddling up is for," he said pulling Makoto's body as close as possible while standing, making it difficult for them to walk the short distance to he car.

"Mamoru!" Makoto shrieked shy about the affection shown, even though there would most likely be no one outside due to the current weather.

Stopping their stride to his car, Mamoru turned Makoto so that they were face to face and gently placing both of his hands on her cheeks he commented seriously, "Mako-chan, there's no need to be shy or embarrassed, if people see me expressing my feeling for you then they're witnessing something special, because it's you I have these feelings for." With that he watched as Makoto's eyes brightened as if struck by lightning and as a blush overtook her face.

"You're cute," he remarked before placing a kiss on her lips, "good thing you're mine or else I'd be doing something stupid right now."

"Mamo-chan…" Makoto whispered before moving close enough to kiss him, "you know what?"

"What?" he whispered back feeling her breathe against he cheek.

Makoto hit his arm before running out of his arms and toward his car as fast as possible, taking him for surprise as she yelled out, "You're lucky you're mine too! Or else I'd be mad that we're going to be late for the reservations!"

With a smile Mamoru ran after Makoto, who was already sitting down in the car and watching as her love hurried over. "I guess if Mamoru is in my life…I don't mind giving it my best." She thought with bright eyes and a smile on her face.
