"It sucks. Werther's Original, Nik-L-Nips, Circus peanuts, Wax lips, Pocky, Reese's Pieces, Nerds, Peeps, Twix, Snickers, Hersheys Kisses, Sugar Daddies, Swedish Fish, Skittles, everything. I hate it all. Go away."
"Come on Stein, stop being a jerk." Nygus groaned, sitting on his filthy dirty desk. The room was drab and grey, for good reason too. He was hiding from Marie. Marie was a sweetheart, they both agreed, but she was pulling out all the stops this Halloween. The entire house was covered in chibi vampires, ghouls, zombies, (of which Stein took offense to,) and mummies (of which Nygus took offense to).
"Stop being mean. I brought a bag of Jelly Bellies. Eat up, jerk."
"Jelly Bellies? Never had one. What do they taste like?"
"Seriously, you've never had one? Geez, what don't they taste like?" She held up the colorful bag, sitting on his desk and grinning.
"Open up, Jerkface." She put her hands over his eyes and shut them, opening the Jelly Bellies and cramming one into his mouth forcefully, not waiting for permission. Easier to ask forgiveness than permission, right?
"Hey, I-mmf…so they taste like…" He looked thoughtful and chewed on it a bit.
"…Dr. Pepper. Very funny, Nygus." She shook her head and popped another in.
"…Birthday Cake? I can tell no defined taste of them…"
"There is no defined taste, dummy, they're all different. Cream soda, Vanilla Bean, Mango Madness, Buttered popcorn, there's around 150 flavours."
"Dang. Gimmie another." Nygus keept feeding him the jelly beans, until the bag was empty. Stein pouted, eyes still shut.
Nygus smiled, watching him for a bit, eyes closed, pouting. He was just the most adorable thing. The stitches under his eye were small and detailed, proof of intricate work by delicate hands. She remembered him laughing when she asked about it last time she came over.
"Oh that one? Hah…did that one in a hotel bathroom mirror." The thought of him being able to be so gentle, made her smile under the bandages.
"Here's the last one…" She reached around back and undid the bandage, pulling them off and leaning in slowly, pausing.
Then she leaned in for the kiss. The big first kiss, the one every little girl dreamed about since forever, every little girl had dreamed of how it would go, who the dreamy boy would be, where, the buildup, the intimacy, everything. The first kiss she never thought she would ever end up getting.
And he gladly took it.
He reached up to her soft cheeks to feel the oh so familiar feeling of…scars. Zigzaging over her lips, nose, cheeks, everything covered by her bandages. The only clear skin between the scars was soft, gentle, and sensitive from lack of exposure.
It wasn't perfect.
But Stein didn't know Jelly Bellies came in Lips flavour.
