Bring Her Back

He wanted her back, even after all these years; his love for her had been greater than he cared to show. At the thought of her his heart squeezed with the pain of losing her.

He knew he had acted like a jerk during his brief visit to 2001, but those actions were what he was supposed to do, they had been orders from higher up than him. Still, he should show some remorse, some of the kindness of the old Alex.

He had seen the pain in her eyes, known the cause but couldn't erase it. He cursed at himself as he got up. Looking out of the window, soft snow covered the ground outside his apartment, like layers of white sheets.

The nights after she had left had been spent in the dark cold room of his office, working away to keep Ransik in Cryogenic Containment forever. But that still didn't help his heartache, only increased it. He dated other women, but he always compared them to Jen. It wasn't fair to them or him. But he had no control over his feelings for a woman who devoted her life to a ghost.

Katie had told him why she left, he had also known all along. But in reality he always hoped it wasn't true. He fooled himself into thinking she would be over Wes Collins by now. His jaws tightened, at the thought of the second Red Ranger back in 2001, he had stolen everything, his life, his woman, God, he raged, even his looks. He had let him, didn't tried to stop it; didn't think of it.

He never realized just how much Jen meant to him, until after she left his world.

Her laughter, her tears, and her love for him. For all that, he ached, and forever would.

He just ached for her. A single tear rolled down his cheek. He didn't wipe the cold liquid away; he simply stared at the beauty of Silver City.

She sacrificed a lot for this city, going back in time to stop Ransik. Wondering if she ever got back to the year 3000. He respected her for that and more. Her strength and focus were the main reason he was attracted to her, but those brown eyes also showed a different side of her as well. The one no one ever expected to find in Time Force Headquarters. A small smile formed on his lips as he recalled those days.

The hours they spent, kissing in his office after dark. Making out in the office was a dangerous move, he knew, but that was what he lived for - danger. He wasn't afraid to let people know about him and Jen, and neither was she. He had nothing to lose and yet he had lost.

A simple touch of her hand would drive him nuts, the thought still did. That was the hold she had on him. A powerful hold he found hard to resist from a sweet shy ensign. He had loved her so much and yet he had let her slip away from his fingers, like dust in the wind. For her happiness, he gave up his own. Gave up the one person who understood him. Loved him for who he was, not for what he was.

What he was a son of Collins, a powerful family who owned Time Force for the last 300 years if he remembered correctly. Impressive, isn't it? he thought darkly.

Money never buys happiness, it's earned. His mother always told him that.

He wished he had another chance with her. Another shot at love. And another, till he got it right.

Let me know how this one is….first time for TF Fic
