lj-cut text"How credible was Jacqui anyway?"
Greg had been the Vegas crime lab for three years before he even thought about his time at the San Francisco lab as anything other than a period where he trained, was the runt of the group, was a newbie.
He associated San Francisco with frequent trips to his parent's home, lots of late nights and early mornings taking whatever shift was pawned off on him on top of his usually night shift. He didn't really like to think about it or talk about it – not because it was exactly a bad experience, just one that was less than amazing.
Greg liked his life in Vegas – he had friends, a nice place to live, neighbors he could tolerate – even a dog that was house trained and didn't shed a lot.
This nice life Greg had made from himself once he finally distanced himself from his family all came crashing down October 13, 2000.
Sara Sidle walked into his lab.
Sara Sidle was from San Francisco as well. Greg had heard rumors that Grissom was bringing in outside help to work the Holly Gribbs case, but how credible was Jacqui anyway?
Apparently very, very credible.
Greg didn't know Sara very well. In fact, Greg doubted Sara would even recognize him. She usually worked the day shift, he worked the night shift – even when their paths did cross, it wasn't for more than a few seconds when he handed her some results or explained something DNA wise to her.
But Greg was still absolutely infatuated with her. She was gorgeous, smart, and solved more cases in a week than a lot of other CSIs solved in two. Basically, she was his fantasy girl. You know, the one you wanted but knew in the back of your mind that you would never ever get.
Greg was sure it was that day in early October that changed his life – he had a second chance at his ideal girl. She had no idea who he was, so he could be anyone he wanted to be - the smart, funny, charming DNA guy. He wasn't going to let it slip by this time.
