Good Morning

Waking up to that face is, for me, truly like a dream come true.

She's smiling softly in her sleep, seemingly content with just about everything in the world. I wonder how long it's been since the last time I saw her smile like this?

I can't remember, it feels like it was years ago, but it doesn't matter anymore, because I know that I'll be able to see it as much as I want from this moment on. The thought makes me smile as I listen to her quiet breathing.

She moves a little in her sleep, causing a lock of hair to fall over her face, obscuring it somewhat from view. I reach out my hand and remove the obstruction by gently brushing it behind her ear, enjoying the feeling of touching her, even in the smallest of ways.

There doesn't seem to be any words that would describe the warm happiness that I'm feeling right now, no words seems to be enough, all of them seem so watered-down when compared to this feeling.

I can hear the patter of rain on the windowpane, but it only serves as a reminder as to just how rare this soft warmth truly is. Before this moment, I would never have been able to realize that such a wonderful joy could come from something as simple as being able to start the day by watching her sleeping face.

How long did it take for me to realize that she was the one?

Does it really matter?

No, I suppose it doesn't… the only thing that matters is where we go from here, right?

… That's actually a very good question…

Tearing my eyes away from her face for a moment – it's kind of distracting – I stare at the ceiling, trying to focus on where we'll be going from here.

Marriage? The thought of seeing her in a bride's dress serves to distract me once again, so I do my best to block it out, that part of it isn't something that I should be thinking of yet.

Yet, huh.

I guess I'm really serious about her… but how would you even go about proposing to someone in the first place? … This actually deserves some thought. I've never been much of a quick thinker, so it probably won't hurt to think of something as important as this in advance.

She moves in her sleep again, producing a cute, sleepy noise as she begins to wake up.

I look over at her as she stretches slightly, revealing her bare neck to the light of dawn as she does so. She looks up at me, and she smiles with a warmth that causes me to melt.

"Good morning Misa-chan," I blink, and then return her smile with one of my own.

"Morning," she cuddles up to me, and I wrap my arms around her. "Ayano?"

"Hmm?" she tilts her head a little, curious as to what I might say.

"Will you marry me?" she stares up at my face with those blue eyes of hers, surprise evident by the way her mouth has fallen open slightly.

"Misa-chan…" tears well up in her eyes, and for a moment I'm scared that I've screwed something up.

Then, she smiles through her tears, and answers my question with a warmth I didn't believe possible.

"I'd love to."

A/n: A little short perhaps, but I wanted to write it down. Misao/Ayano fics are strangely rare, despite their somewhat 'obvious' status.
