Prologue

They offered all the survival groups a safe heaven. A place where we could live our lives normal like we did before the alien invasion. Most groups were unsure while other willingly went. There were a lot of groups that accepted all around the world. What most of us didn't know was that there was a price we had to pay to be in the safe heaven. They wanted kids, not for harnessing, but for their games.

The aliens wanted 34 kids in an arena to fight to the death. There are 17 survival groups that agreed to the safe heaven. For every survival group there would be 2 kids between the ages of 9 to 18 send into the arena. Only one person would come out alive and the aliens made it clear that whoever did come out alive would get a prize. A prize of food for the whole survival group for a year after that year was up they would host another game.

The message was send out after the survival groups were already at the safe heaven, there was no turning back now. Parents were upset and scared, but why? They're the ones that send their kids into an arena just so they could have peace. That was running through most of the kids' minds besides all the anger and fear. That would have been running through my mind if I still had parents. By dawn a Skitter was coming to hand pick 2 children and take them back to their ship.

All the children were sitting together at the Plaza of the town they had given us for our safe heaven. Everyone was running around doing last minute things. Some were at the church praying, but most of us had little believe in that after the alien invasion came. We heard the Skitter was already here accompanied by a Mech. They were scoping the town looking for any hidden children. All the kids stood in their lines whispering reassuring things to each other.

Then the Skitter showed up along with the Mech. It walked on its 8 spider like legs through the whole 1st row looking all the children right in the face. Most of the kids in the back row were whispering that the Skitter would pick the kids before he made it back there. I wouldn't cross my fingers because nothing is ever in my favor.

Apparently the games weren't in my favor either.
