A/N:
A drabble I wrote for CenasNakedInMyBedWithMe for the holiday season, lol.---
"These are the ugliest Christmas decorations I've ever seen."
Frowning, Melony punched Jeff in the arm before bending over to plug in the Christmas tree lights, "Yeah well, you sure as hell weren't volunteering to pick anything out!"
"That's cause we were shopping at Dollar General." Jeff smirked and sat down on the edge of the bed, his smirk turning into a full-on smile as he watched her zip around the room. It was Christmas Eve and, due to snowstorms and bad weather, their flight home to North Carolina had been delayed and there was definitely no way they could drive anywhere, meaning they were trapped in a hotel in Colorado. But being the Holiday aficionada that she was, Mel insisted on making it the best Christmas they could, which meant a quick trip to the aforementioned Dollar General and buying a medium sized fake tree, and stocking up on lights, cardboard Snowmen and Santa Clauses, big red bows, glass balls, and just about anything else she could find that was the least bit Christmassy. While he'd joked about them being ugly, but now that she was almost done, it had really turned out to be quite beautiful. It was was homey, he thought. And comfortable.
They were both bummed about not getting to go home, especially with Matt throwing his annual Christmas bash, but even in the midst of disaster, Melony was able to make it better. Thinking back on it now, Jeff realized she always had. When he'd broken his leg on his birthday and couldn't wrestle for six months, when his car got stolen, and even the little things like when he was grouchy from lack of sleep or just completely hung over. No matter what it was, Melony could find a way to fix it, even a little bit, and make him feel ten times better. Ten times the man he was.
"Ok, I'm done." Mel announced, shaking Jeff from his thoughts. She stood upright, hands on her hips as she surveyed the newly decorated room, then she whirled around and locked eyes with him, "What do you think?"
"I think..." He murmured, pursing his lips before smiling, "I think I want to spend the rest of my life with you."
She laughed softly, then realized he was serious, "What?"
"I want you to marry me." He stood up, closing the gap between them in an instant as he took her hands in his, "I just...I love you. I love everything about you. I love the way you make me feel."
"Jeff, where is this coming from?"
"I don't know!" He sighed deeply, "I just...realized it. We're a thousand miles away from home, away from our families and friends on the supposed most wonderful time of the year and I'm...happy. In fact, I would rather be here with you, right now, than anywhere else."
Mel smiled broadly, unsure of what to say, tears threatening to spill. "Jeff...."
"I'm sorry I don't have a ring. I wasn't exactly planning this..." He chuckled, scratching the back of his head, "I just love you so damn much. And I mean, I'll buy you a ring later, but..."
His words were cut off as Mel threw her arms around his neck and pulled him down into a deep, passionate kiss. Once she finally pulled away, tears were streaming down her cheeks as she stared up into his eyes, "Of course I'll marry you, you idiot."
"Oh, how romantic." Jeff shoved her lightly, before pulling her back into him and kissing her again.
