Hi everyone. Another random Aoshi x Kaoru oneshot from me. Not as good as the last one, and a lot shorter, but there's a lot to ponder upon. In any case, be nice and review! Constructive criticism highly welcomed.

Kamiya Kaoru sat cross-legged on the floor, her hands folder and eyes closed. It was her time for meditation. She felt a strong ki approaching the dojo. Standing up and brushing her hands on her white hakama, she opened the door of the dojo to reveal a stoic figure, his blue eyes gazing down at her.
"When the battousai, fighter-for-hire, and the little boy are not here, I will always protect you." She smiled at the tall man before her. How he had know that the others were not there always awed her. This wasn't the first time that he had come here, with the same reasoning – that he was going to protect her. He entered the dojo, completely oblivious to Kaoru's hair messily tied back in a high ponytail or her mediation gi and hakama. He excused himself to change from his uniform into his kimono before joining her, settling into a lotus position. There they sat, savouring the comfortable companionable silence.
"Aoshi." His ice blue eyes searched her face questioningly with underlying warmth. "Thank you."
