"Brandon. Wake up. Your father and I need to speak to you."

I opened my eyes to see my read-headed mother standing beside my bed. She had this unusual look on her. Her eyes were cold and glaring down on me. My father walked into the room. His usual warm expression turned cold.

"Nami? What's wrong? Why did I have to leave my meeting with Takakura right away?" He said with a slight puzzled look.

"Ask your son."

" Come on! I don't even know what I did. Clue me in here." I said. How can they expect me to understand?

"Where were you last night?"

"Kate's house…? Am I suddenly not allowed to be there?" I asked. what was the issue?

"Where were her parents?"

"They were… here. Weren't they?"

"They called as soon as they got home. Neither you nor Kate were there when they got back." Mom said. I started to understand the situation better.

"We met Lumina and Hugh at the beach. Big deal."

*Flash back*

"Brandon baby. I'm bored." Kate said, flipping her straight sandy blonde hair. Her brown eyes were peering up at me.

"Why don't we go down to the beach? Build a campfire, we can call Lumina and Hugh."

"Baby, that sounds like fun. You go call."

I walked downstairs and picked up the phone. I dialed Lumina's number. Hugh was at her house tonight. They agreed to meet us there in 20.

"Hey Kate! I'll be right back okay?" I called upstairs. I had to make a quick stop.

I stepped out the door and headed towards the bar. It was the perfect time of night that HE would be there. Just my luck. I crossed the street to see him stepping in to the bar.

"ROCK!" I called out before he entered. His blonde head whipped around to face me. I ran to catch up to him.

" I need you to do me a favor. I have something arranged with Muffy. I have 150G here. Tell her I need a nice bottle of vodka."

"Can do little man." He turned to walk inside. He emerged a few minutes later carrying a bottle of vodka.

"Thanks Rock. Give that to Muffy." I turned away and walked back to Kate's house.

She was sitting on the couch when I walked in. She stood up. Her normally straight blonde hair was up in a high ponytail and she was wearing blue plaid shortshorts and navy blue tube top.

"Damn. You're hot."

"I try." She said with a flirtatious wink.

"Let's get going." I wrapped my arm around her waist and we walked out. I had a bottle of vodka and a pack of cigarettes in my coat. That was enough for the night.

*End Flashback*

Yeah… like my parents were going to know that.

"Well…?"

"Well what? I missed the question."

"Why were you guys at the beach?" My dad asked.

"Dad. We were bored. Calm down. Now both of you. Get out."

I stood up and pushed them out my door. I shut it and locked it. My phone started ringing. I stood up and grabbed it. A text.

From: Kate

Subject: Party Baby.

so like, I wuz grounded. but that ain't stoppin me. were hittin the party scene tonight. the bar. 8pm. See you there babe.

I hit reply.

To: Kate

Subject: Re:Party Baby.

I got in trouble. No idea if I'm grounded. We didn't do anything wrong. But party, I'm there.

I hit send and stood up. I needed out. I jumped out the window to avoid my parents. But where would I go? It doesn't matter to me. Until 8 tonight, I wasn't going to be home. But right now. I needed a smoke. Bad.
