I awoke to the feeling of somebody kissing my throat.

"Morning, angel." My boyfriend, Jake, said, before kissing my lips. I reponded by pulling him closer. It felt nice, but it didn't feel as good as it did with Dimitri. When Dimitri used to kiss me, it made my heart race a million miles. It made my knees go weak. It made me feel like I was the princess in a fairytale.

No! I yelled in my head. I refused to think about Dimitri, especially not while kissing Jake.

"Morning." I breathed when he pulled away.

"There's a new guardian coming to court today. Heard he was staying while with his moroi." Jake was a guardian like us. He was actually really good at his job, but not a god like Dimitri.

Urgh. Stop it Rose, you ungrateful bitch. Stop comparing Jake to Dimitri. You should be happy you have a great man that loves you. You don't need anything more.

"Really? Is he hot? You might have some competion, Jakey." I teased.

"Babe, I'm the hottest guy here. Nobody can compare to me. That's why I'm dating a beauty like you." He replied, winking.

"Oh? You only want me for my looks?" I asked, faking hurt.

"That, and your amazing personality." He replied, leaning in to kiss me again.

"You have to get to you're shift." He murmured against my lips.

"Oh shit! My shift!" I yelled, jumping out of bed. "Whats the time?" I asked.

"11:30. You have 30 minutes." He replied. I could see he was trying not to laugh at my forgetfulness.

I cursed under my breath, grabbed my clothes, and headed for the bathroom. "I'm taking a shower. Knock on my door in 10 mins?" I asked. He nodded.

"Thanks baby." I said, blowing him a kiss. He pretended to catch it and hold it to his heart.

Fourty minutes later, I was running up to the frount gates.

"You're late." Guardian Anderson said. "Like usual."

"Yeah, sorry." I didn't bother with an excuse. It's not like she believed them anyways.

She rolled her eyes, but didn't comment further.

"So, who's the new guardian?" I asked, trying to make convosation.

"I believe you know him. Guardian.. Blair? Bell? Oh, I got it. Bel-" She stopped talking when she saw Lissa running up to us.

"Rose!" She panted. "I wish I didn't have to be the one to tell you this, but, Dimitri's coming. To court. Like, right now."

I wasn't sure if that was the best or worst thing I had ever heard in my 20 years of living.
