A/N: Hi everyone! This is another Jily drabble I made. I hope you all enjoy it :)

I'm a bit busy at the moment so I haven't been able to type up the next part of Archway to Heaven but I promise to post the next chapter soon!

Credit to CokeBottleK for the title!

Disclaimer: I don't own anything, but if I did I would totally make Nuna happen.

Bittersweet Relief

James Potter slowly opened his eyes and winced as bright white light flooded the room before him. As his eyes slowly adjusted, he saw... The Great Hall? But it was different; it was purely white and looked serene and calm, unlike when James was at Hogwarts.

Wait... He thought. He cast his mind back and delved into his blurry memories. Why couldn't he remember much?

He flinched suddenly as his memories came flooding back. All of them.

He remembered his last moments with Lily.

He remembered the pain in her bright green, cat-like eyes.

He remembered seeing those identical, beautiful, green eyes in their son for the first time.

He remembered hearing those dreaded loud, hollow knocks on their door and looking over at Lily in horror and disbelief.

He remembered shouting at her - to protect Harry; to keep him safe.

He remembered You-Know-Who's disfigured face as he stood up to him with no wand; defenceless.

He remembered the bright green flash. But he didn't remember any pain. It hadn't hurt at all. Reality dawned on him and he realised he was in Heaven, dead but oh so alive. He felt... glad? Lily wasn't here. Harry needed someone to take care of him. He imagined Lily's life without him and found himself immensely jealous of all the people on Earth who were still alive.

He imagined Harry's 2nd birthday and the many more to come; Harry's first time at Hogwarts; his first time on a broom; his first time in Diagon Alley; his first deposit in Gringotts. All the precious family moments that James should have been at.

He could almost feel his heart shattering. He sighed deeply, letting it all out. He was ready for whatever was next, or so he guessed. He laughed as a hippogriff landed outside a window in the Great Hall. He was just about to go outside when he heard a loud crack behind him; almost like the sound of someone Disapparating.

He turned around slowly to find Lily lying on the ground, dressed all in white (much like he was), and unconscious.

"LILY!" James screamed with a mixture of horror and anxiety. She was dead? What about Harry?

Before he had time to rush over to her, Lily had already started to awaken. She slowly opened her eyes and sat up. She finally saw James and her lips formed a little 'O' shape. Her eyes lit up. She stood up and ran over to James.

James opened his arms and hugged her tight. He was never going to let her out of his sight again.

As they pulled out of the hug, both of them stared into each other's eyes. James' eyes were a warm molten brown, and Lily's eyes were emerald in colour and full of life.

He pulled her into a deep kiss and felt her small frame melting perfectly into his.

He whispered into her flame-red hair, "So. Ready to move on?"

"Always." She smiled and took his hand, leading him towards the hippogriff.
