Hi everyone. Well, it's certainly been a while, and I'm sure this isn't the story you were expecting me to update. I've run into a massive block on TCF, but I think I'll have more time now so I might make some more progress.
Anyway, this is just a random oneshot I thought up while sitting in on a lecture in a language I don't understand. I hope you enjoy it. Please remember to review. Reviews keep the author happy.
"My Lord?"
Lord Voldemort stopped abruptly and turned around. He saw one last follower still knelt before his throne.
"I dismissed you along with the rest, Severus Snape." He said in his cold, sibilant voice. "What are you still doing in my presence?"
"I…I…" the masked figure swallowed nervously. "My Lord, I came to ask for my reward."
The Dark Lord strode over to stand in front of his servant, his nostrils flaring. After a second, he seemed to calm down.
"This is the one time you will get away with such insolence." He hissed. "That in itself should be your reward. However, as you brought me a vital piece of information, I shall allow it, just this once. What do you request?"
The kneeling figure appeared to steel himself. "My Lord, I ask that you spare Lily Potter."
The Dark Lord considered him. He knew Snape loved her, it was his one weakness. The prophecy made no mention of her either, so it made little difference to him as to whether she lived or died.
"Very well," he said at last. "I will give Lily Potter a chance to live. I make no promises if she chooses to defy me yet again."
The Death Eater knew that that was the best he could get. "Thank you, my Lord. You are the most merciful Lord, my Lord. Thank you."
The Dark Lord's best Potions Master crawled forward to kiss the bottom of his robes before standing. He bowed several times before vanishing out of the hall.
Almost exactly one year later, Lord Voldemort approached the Potters' house. He killed James Potter without a second thought before moving upstairs. There, he gave Lily Potter nee Evans the choice to live or die. She chose to die. Then, with his next spell, history was made.
