Building a Mystery...Sarah MacLachlan

They come out at night–

That's when the dark shadows come,

And the fear blocks out light,

And the nazgûl roam...

They gathered up their gear:

Boromir took his horn;

And a sword that was broken

Before the Dúnedain came.

They're tangled in the mystery.

The wargs' shadows lurch.

Gandalf sparks up fireballs.

Gimli won't give up the search

For Balin's ancient halls.

Legolas runs over snow,

With a smile that won't wash away.

In the dark Sting can glow

When evil is on its way.

The Shire's beautiful;

Hobbit holes and farms.

To protect it, the halflings take up arms.

Because they're working,

Working out the mystery

Of ancient rings,

And fallen kings.

Yeah they're forging,

Forging the history,

And questing so...carefully.

The nazgûl's screams are loud,

Obeying the evil-god.

They feed off of fears

And innocent tears, oh...

With eyes like lanterns,

Gollum toothily grins.

Frodo heard him walk

With floppy feet like fins.

Arwen's beautiful:

Beauty not meant for man.

But his hopes are up,

Aragorn's dreams climb.

Because they're working,

Working out the mystery

Of ancient rings,

And fallen kings.

Yeah they're forging,

Forging the history,

And questing so...carefully.
