"LUCE!" She could hear his voice as she ran through the forest. It felt comforting to her-his voice seemed warm, but filled with worry. She continued to run for a while, before turning around to see Natsu's pink hair in the distance, running after her. Wondering whether she should wait for him, she faltered, almost tripping over. His voice rang out again, this time more panic filled his voice.
"LUCY!" Deciding that looking behind her was the best thing to do, she stopped running, if only for a moment, to look at the pink-haired boy running toward her. "LUCE, WHAT ARE YOU DOING? RUN!"
She should have ran; She should've done what Natsu had told her to do, but her body didn't listen. Maybe it was out of fear, or maybe she just didn't want to run away anymore. Suddenly, she felt a blow to the back of her head, seeing Natsu darting toward her as her vision faded. Her body landed in a heap on the ground, hearing a familiarly warm voice faintly calling her before she lost consciousness.
Lucy's eyes flickered open to see a small light in the distance. She could barely see anything else- it was pitch black. She shivered, her back aching as she lay against the cold hard ground. Lucy reached out an arm to the left, and, feeling something softer, scrambled to it. Not just because it felt reasonably warm, but it felt familiar, like home. She snuggled against it, her nose catching scent of comfort...Natsu.
Lucy immediately peeled herself off of him and tried to see if he was okay- if he was hurt she didn't think she could ever forgive herself. Due to the darkness of the cage-like enclosure the two were in, she could only guess that he was fine- until she realised his chest wasn't rising or falling. No warm breath came from his mouth. Frantically searching the warm body for a pulse, a cold tear ran down her cheek. She was locked in a cell with the dead body of her best friend. More tears flooded her cheeks as she clung to Natsu's body, silently cursing.
"Lucy..." She heard a faint voice that sounded like... No, it couldn't be. He was dead, right in front of her. "Lucy...Lucy...Luce..." She began to cry even harder than before. Natsu was the only person that called her Luce. Her vision went blurry due to the non-stop tears that ran down her face, until she felt something grab her through the darkness...
Lucy's eyes shot open and she gasped for breath. Her eyes darted around the familiar room. She was in her apartment-she was safe.
"Luce...are you okay? I think you were having a nightmare or someth-" Natsu began to speak worriedly from the other side of her bed, but was cut off by Lucy's sudden embrace.
"You're okay.." Lucy breathed, leaving Natsu completely confused.
"Luce, what's up? What happened?" Natsu questioned, desperately trying to find out what the hell was going on.
A moment passed in silence, as Natsu awaited Lucy's answer. He opened his mouth to question her, once again, but this time was interrupted by Lucy smashing her lips against his. He still had no idea what was going on, but he wasn't going to complain. She wrapped her arms around his neck and stopped the kiss briefly. What she said next in the bluntest tone she could muster, left Natsu completely stunned.
"You died."
She managed to keep a straight face for a few seconds before leaning back into Natsu's embrace.
