Mundane. That was how Kosaku Kawajiri's life felt to Yoshikage Kira. Wake up, go to work, come back and in the morning begin the routine again. A life as dull as a wheel turning on a car. But the smoothness of this wheel was something Kira had come to depend upon in taking over Kawajiri's life. He was still in the beginning stages of learning his new role after being unfairly thrust out of his old one so there were still bumps in the smoothness of his wheel. Kira felt in time he could smooth out such bumps. All in the name of a simple life.

One evening he returned from work and after changing out of his usual work clothes Kawajiri's wife, or his wife rather, appeared inside the bedroom looking eager faced. Kira retained his stoic expression as she spoke,

"So, I was thinking, dear, since I found out so recently that you could cook, perhaps we could, prepare dinner together? That's why it wasn't already done when you got home." From what Kira could tell she was pulling the expression on her face in an attempt to look cutesy and convincing. Would Kawajiri have been convinced? Obviously, he wouldn't have been asked in the first place. So perhaps he would agree rather begrudgingly. All right.

Kira heaved a fake sigh an obvious sign that he, as Kosaku Kawajiri, agreed. Shinobu perked up even more and led the way to the kitchen where they quietly began to make dinner. As it was finished and being put on the table she called for Hayato. The boy dashed down the stairs, prepared his meal, and immediately went back to his room with it and without looking at either of them. To Kira's bored mind the actions of Kawajiri's son were worthy of slight curiosity.

"Has Hayato always been that way?"

"Mmm? Well, I could suppose it really started when he got interested in electronics, though I don't mind as long as he keeps his grades up," replied Shinobu as she sat down next to her husband. She had a plan up her sleeve. Recently she noticed Kosaku acting different lately and in a rather appealing way. Occasionally as she ate Shinobu looked at him from the corner of her eye hoping to entice his attention.

Kira of course being perceptive noticed this, and it annoyed him at first. He was trying to de-stress after another boring, ass kissing day at work and here she was staring at him. Keeping his composure Kira continued to act like he hadn't noticed. Dinner was finished without incident, and he retreated upstairs to practice Kawajiri's handwriting once more. Silence and concentration, what perfect ways to forget the woes that Josuke Higashikata and the rest of his ilk had cast upon him, Yoshikage Kira.
