Rick had just killed the Scorpion King, and Ahm Shere was starting to crumble. There they were, Imhotep and Rick, hanging over the edge of a chasm filled with demons trying to pull them down into the pit. Rick begged for Evelyn to leave and save herself, but she came to his rescue anyway. When Imhotep saw this, he beckoned to Anck-su-namun, begging her to save him. Anck-su-namun, once only wanting to stay with Imhotep because of his immortality and power, had now realized that he was still the only one that could keep her alive. So she rushed to save him, just barely dodging the falling debris along the way.
She started to pull on her lover's arms, trying to lift him. But she wasn't strong enough to do it alone. Between pulls, she looked over to Evelyn, shouting in her ancient language "Nefertiri! Help me, please!" Evelyn was hesitant to help until she saw the desperation in the other woman's eyes. With a nod, she went to pull Imhotep's other arm, and they successfully brought him over the ledge.
"Rick, they have to come with us. They don't have any reason to hurt us now, and they'll die if they're left here." Evelyn exclaimed. Rick looked over to Imhotep, then Anck-su-namun, groaning as he realized how right his wife was. He nodded before shouting the priest's name to get his attention. When he looked at him, Rick continued "Come with us if you wanna keep living!" With a confirmation, Imhotep grabbed his love's hand as the group rushed out of the pyramid, climbing to the top.
Izzy called for them, lowering his dirigible enough so they could latch on. Imhotep and Anck-su-namun made it on before Jonathan, and after he grabbed the diamond, Izzy looked over to them. "O'Connell" he started "Who the hell have you been messing with this time? ...And who is that?" Rick sighed heavily before he replied. "Pygmy mummies, giant bug... things. And this is.." He stopped himself.
"This would be the high priest Imhotep" Anck-su-namun interrupted, proving her still-kept ability to speak English. "Your friend was kind enough to spare us from death." Izzy looked at her and then at Rick, shrugging. Rick looked over the side of the aircraft to see Ardeth saying his farewell before riding off on his black horse.
Rick turned towards Evelyn and exchanged a few words before they kissed. Imhotep gazed at Anck-su-namun, who stared at the now setting sun, and he smiled. "I almost thought you were going to leave me to die." He said in Egyptian. She looked back at him and ran her hand over his face just before she spoke "I can't live without you by my side. You know that."
They then shared a passionate kiss before our heroes rode off into the distance, ending their journey on a triumphant note.
