Chapter 1
Snowflakestar stepped out of her cave carved in the cold rock. The sun down patrol had gone to sleep she assumed. There was a chill in the air. All the cats of SnowClan loved the cold, but scarcely there was food.
"Snowflakestar! Snowflakestar! Come look at this!" Moonflower, Snowflakestars deputy called out.
She was startled to see her deputy alone without the sun down patrol.
"Where is the sun down patrol?" Snowflakestar asked.
"There investigating." Moonflower responded.
"What?"
"No time to explain. Just alert the clan." Snowflakestar jumped gracefully on to the cold rock.
"Cat's that can stand in snow. Gather around the cold rock." Snowflakestar shouted out to the clan. Warriors leaped out of their den. The apprentices scurried over to the rock. The elders slowly made their way to the cold rock. The queens and kits stayed inside the nursery but peered outside.
"My deputy has asked me to come along to something the sun down patrol has found something I must go see. No one is to go out. Guard the camp well. When I return I shall confront to you the information."
Murmurs arose in the clan. Snowflakestar jumped down from the cold rock and raced with Moonflower to where the sun down patrol was. When Moonflower slowed down Snowflakestar could see why Moonflower had been so urgent. The warriors on either side of the object parted and she could see a black cat shivering. The cat was breathing abnormally. Snowflakestar couldn't bear seeing a cat in such pain.
"What happened?" Snowflakestar shouted out to the cats. Sparrowtail stepped up.
"We found this cat lying in the grass. We didn't know what else to do but bring the leader." Sparrowtail whispered.
"Does anyone know what's happened to the poor cat?" Snowflakestar called out. She held her breath when the poor little cat had a coughing fit. When all of the warriors simply shook their heads, Snowflakestar cried out then.
"Why don't we get the medicine Leafheart then?" Snowflakestar rushed back to camp with Moonflower on her tail.
