Okay, a little insight into my world. It's about 1a.m. I'm going to see my best friend, Ben tomorrow after a week and a half of not seeing him at all, and I'm pretty excited. My little sister's friend has taken my bed, so I'm on the sofa in our front room tonight. Except that at this very moment, I'm in the kitchen so that the sound of my typing doesn't wake the rest of the house. This evening, our road flooded, and the men from the council arrived a few minutes ago, with sandbags…and flashing orange lights. Now, our living room doesn't have blackout curtains, so as I sat on the sofa, even more wakeful than I was before (and grumbling to myself about my front room suddenly resembling a nightclub) this came to me. I hope you like. I know you can tell that it was written in the middle of the night, but try not to think of it as sketchy…try to think of it as…raw. I'm not going to make apologies for it.

Disclaimer: I own nothing and no one.

Cuddy hugged herself beneath the unfamiliar sheets. It was about two in the morning, and she had no idea where she was.

Geographically, it was easy. She was in House's apartment. In his bed. Right next to him, in fact.

But, where was she? What was she doing? What was going on?

He was the biggest pain in her life. He was an ass. He was arrogant, rude, self-destructive. And that was merely scratching the surface.

And yet, tonight, she had reached the point of no return. Oh, she had been here before, yes. It might have been long ago, but she had slept with him. Why was this time so different?

Because, this time she cared. This time, she wasn't young and flirty, and irresponsible. This time, she was a mature woman, and she was looking for love.

What, did she think House wanted a baby? Did she want a baby with House? They'd never get married, or be a family, or be happy.

So, why on Earth was she here?

Wherever here was.

It had all seemed so easy at the time. So natural. So rational.

But…

Why, Lisa?

And at that moment, with all the millions of questions rushing around her head, he wriggled in his sleep, and his arm flopped over and landed around her shoulders, and in a movement as raw as a baby's reflex, he drew her to him, and she remembered all the answers that she had never realised that she had known, and she sank once more into oblivion.

Please leave a review. It would make the day that's going to start in about in a few hours. Oh, and sorry if my author's note seemed a little aggressive. I'm quite tired. :)
