AN: This came about one day during one of our freewrite journals in creative writing. It's 3 snippets; 2 that are roughly from Leia's point of view, and one from Jaina's.

Alternate Ending to Escaping Bespin: Escaping Bespin is a project that I'm currently working on where Han isn't frozen in carbonite and instead really does take Leia back to the Alliance then goes to pay off Jabba with the promise of coming back. Except in this ending, he doesn't return.

Post Empty Chairs: To The Gallows is almost finished and needs to be typed, Empty Chairs is still in progress. Han and Leia are killed bringing down the Empire when Jania is very young and this is her on the 20th or so anniversary.

Death of Love: This is sometime post ESB sort of following the Escaping Bespin storyline except on a mission gone wrong Leia is forced to watch as Han is executed. This is the aftermath.

The characters aren't mine but the scenarios are.

DEATH AND RAIN

ALTERNATE ENDING TO ESCAPING BESPIN

It was raining when she got the news, just like it had been the day he left.

Desperately she wrapped up in his blue jacket and ran into the rain, searching the sky for some sign of him.

There was none.

And kneeling on the platform in the rain, her face soaked with tears and rain, the Last Princess of Alderaan vowed to never love another man, never promise anything to another man as she had to him.

POST EMPTY CHAIRS

It had been raining all day, the anniversary of the deaths. Of the execution.

But now the rain had passed and the sounds of a normal summer had returned.

A summer they had never seen.

Shouts called to her from the backyard, begging their mother to join them.

So she headed out to join her husband and children, leaving the picture of her parents behind.

DEATH OF LOVE

FREEDOM. EQUALITY. JUSTICE.

Ideals. Things to fight for.

Things they were fighting for.

Ideals he'd been fighting for.

Ideals he'd lost his life for.

All because he loved her enough to follow her to the ends of the Universe. Loved her enough to help her take on an Empire. Loved her enough to join her cause, take up her ideals, and follow her into the abyss.

Because he loved her.

He died for her cause because he wanted her to be happy.

And there, bent over his body in the rain she suddenly wondered if it was worth it.

Was it worth it to lose everyone you love because you decided to speak up.

"I love you."

She decided it wasn't.
