Author's Note: I know everyone is so over Doomsday, but I just had to write this!
An Alternate Doomsday
"Boy, it's a good thing we locked that lever in position, eh Rose?" the Doctor called across to Rose.
"Yeah, otherwise who knows what would have happened!" Rose called back. The last of the Daleks and Cybermen were entering the void now.
"Okay, that's the last of 'em!" the Doctor said. "The breach should be closing any minute, so just hang on!" Rose nodded and tightened her grip. She flashed a smile to the Doctor, who returned it with one of his own. They then turned to the wall to watch the breach close. Just then, Pete appeared, his arms outstretched.
"Pete?" said the Doctor. "What are you doing here?" Pete lowered his arms in confusion.
"Oh, I, er," he stammered.
"I told you not to use that teleporter again, you'll damage the universe!" exclaimed the Doctor.
"I just thought … had a feeling …" said Pete.
"What?" asked Rose. Pete sighed.
"I thought the lever would be knocked out of position and Rose would have to let go to bring it back, but she wouldn't be able to hold on and was going to start falling into the void. I was going to catch her at the last minute and take her to my universe, thereby saving her from being sucked into the void but at the same time painfully separating her from the man she loves."
"Well, that's not what happened," said Rose. "We made sure everything was set before. Honestly, what do you take me for?" Pete looked around uncomfortably.
"Oi, you'd better be getting back to your own universe, otherwise you'll be stuck here," the Doctor said.
"Oh, er, right," said Pete clumsily. "Er, bye then." He pressed a button on his transporter, and then he was gone. A moment later the breach closed. The Doctor and Rose ran up to each other and gave each other a big hug.
"We made it," said the Doctor. "So, what the hell was your dad on about?"
"Beats me," said Rose, shrugging. "I think he's been watching too much TV." The Doctor smiled, and he and Rose walked hand in hand back to the TARDIS, ready for their next adventure.
