Ocean

"Hey Wy!" his soft, cheery voice called from the top of the steps. I turned to look at him.
"Hey Feliciano!" I smiled back.

He clumsily ran down the steps, tripping into the sand.
"Are you okay?" I began to stand up, before he motioned that he was alright. I smiled. he was such a ditz.
He had a sketchbook and a pencil in his hand, and set himself down next to me, grinning.

"I saw that you were down here all alone, painting. So I decided to join my favorite micronation!"
I blushed.
I had no clue how to answer.

Since I had declared my independence, he had been paying a lot more attention to me. It felt strange, but nice at the same time.
"Isn't the water magnifico?" he said softly, staring out over the ocean. I nodded, glancing back down towards my painting.
Feliciano leaned over staring down at the painting,
"Wow, that's really good Wy! You're getting so much'a better!" he hugged me, pressing his sketchbook and pencil in my face at the same time.
I blushed even deeper.

I don't know why I felt this way around him. It was stupid, really. But I couldn't help myself. He was just so different than all the other countries.

We sat in silence for a moment, before he turned to look at me, his face a bit more serious.
"Hey... Wy?"
"Yeah?"
"Do you like me?"

I wasn't expecting it, I sat in shock for a minute. It was so uncalled for.
"Umm, yeah! You're a great friend, Feliciano!"

He chuckled, "No, no Wy! The other kind!"
I gasped, turning to look at him. He was smiling contently.
"Because I do!" he smiled, leaning over and hugging me.

I leaned into his hug, also smiling,
"Yeah, Feliciano, I guess I do..."

We sat there for a while, staring out over the ocean.
