Christmas Shoes

It was Christmas Eve. As you looked into the Station Square Mall you would see lines. Lots and lots of lines. And in one of those lines was a black hedgehog holding several toys.

"Ugh, He thought, I just want to get home."

He wasn't in the Christmas mood. He looked over to the side, noticing an orange fox digging through boxes of shoes. He kept muttering, "Where are they?"

"5 more minutes until closing.'

An Echidna had tripped over a certain shoe box, revealing a pair of Chaos Drive embedded dance shoes. The fox said "Yes!" and took off for the counter.

"Next!"

"Oh, my turn."

The hedgehog stepped forward when the fox ran in front. "Sorry Sir, this will be quick." And with that comment they looked into each others eyes, the fox's big blue eyes peering into his soul.

"No Problem," And the black hedgehog stepped aside.

The fox smiled and turned toward the cashier. The hedgehog couldn't believe what the fox said next.

"Sir, I want to buy these shoes, for my Momma please. It's Christmas Eve and these shoes are just her size."

He put his bag of coins on the table. As he counted them he boy continued, "Could you hurry soon, daddy says there's not much time. You see, she's been sick for quite a while, and I know these shoes will make her smile. I want her to look beautiful if Momma meets Jesus tonight.

He counted pennies for what seemed like years. Then the Cashier said, "Son there's not enough here."

He searched his pockets frantically. Then he turned and looked at the hedgehog.

"Momma made Christmas good in our house, most years she just did without. Sir what am I gong to do? Somehow I've got to buy her these Christmas shoes."

So the hedgehog laid the money down. He just had to help him out. He will never forget the look on that fox boys face as he said, "Momma's gonna look so graced."

He'd knew he caught a glimpse of heaven's love as the boy thanked him and ran out. He knew that God had sent that little boy to remind him what Christmas is all about.
