A/N: This story is in response to ABetterNingaThanDanCahill's songfic challenge. I don't normally do this kind of stuff, songfic's, but I had a sudden brainstorm, and this came to me, and I had to write it. Please don't hate me for OOC ness, because I've never written for Natalie before.
Natalie was having an overall bad day. Her best shoes, which had been custom designed and made, had been scuffed, her image had been completely ruined on one of the fashion channels(which just happened to be the one that most people watched) and Ian had just professed his undying love to that…peasant, and she had said, to Natalie's complete and utter horror, that she felt the same.
Natalie had just come home from a long day of trying(and failing) to set the records straight, and was quite exhausted. She walked over to her bed, picked up her latest magazine, and turned on her Youtube account, setting it on a continual loop.
It was only a while later that Natalie got bored. She pulled her laptop onto her lap, and started to surf Youtube. She found several videos that interested her, several young singers that she scoffed at, several that she loved, and a couple that were just moderate. Then she looked down the bar, and found a song she had never seen before. Popular. Sounded like her type of song. She clicked the link.
Whenever I see someone, less fortunate than I,
My tender heart tends to start to bleed.
So far that was as far away from the truth as it possibly could be, but Natalie was willing to give it a try.
And when someone needs a makeover, I simply have to take over,
This was true. She especially wanted to give that orphan, Amy, a makeover, simply so she didn't have to see her brother in love with someone…Ordinary.
I know, I know,
Exactly, what they need!
Again, the song seemed to be fitting. She was very controlling, though she would never admit that to anyone. And she did have the best taste there ever was.
And even in your case,
Though it's the toughest case I've yet to face.
Don't worry, I'm determined to succeed,
And yes, indeed.
You.
Will.
Be.
Popular.
It was true, Natalie could make anyone popular. Even that beggar, Amy.
Your gonna be popular.
And with an assist from me,
To be who you'll be,
Instead of dreary who you were,
Well, are,
There's nothing that can stop you,
From becoming populer.
Lar.
Oh, bad grammar. But still, the concept held true. The song continued on to sing La-la, and Natalie listened with more attention then she had ever listened to a song before. At some points she chuckled, which was so Un-Natalieish, that she was actually scared.
The real comparison to herself came at the end of the song.
And though you protest,
Your disinterest,
I know clan-destiny.
You're gonna grin and bear it,
Your new found popularity.
La la, la la, you'll be popular.
Just not, quite as popular,
As,
ME!
It was true. No matter how popular anyone became, they would never be as popular as she was. So maybe she would make Amy just a little bit more popular. Just so that Amy didn't ruin Natalie's image.
Natalie went over to her cell phone, dialed Amy's number, and listened to it ring.
" Hello?"
" Amy, I need to meet you at the mall in two hours. It's Urgent."
A/N: Okay, I had a little fun with this one. I realize that it didn't come out as humorous as I would have liked, but it contains an interesting revelation of Natalie's, so I guess it was okay. Again, for Ninga's contest, for ALL to enjoy.
