A/N: This is my first in a trilogy of fanfics where I tell a short and simple story about the Dwarves in Khuzdul, their private language, or actually, neo-Khuzdul. I am not an expert on languages, and I did this solely with the help of an extensive online English-to-Khuzdul dictionary, and because I think it's fun to see Khuzdul in print, so this is an amateur's effort, and I humbly request no flames, please. Part one of the trilogy deals with the more successful early days of Balin the dwarf's expedition to reclaim Moria.

The Khuzdul translation comes first, followed by the English translation. Khuzdul is in ltalics; English is in normal printing.

Disclaimer: I do not own The Lord of the Rings, J.R.R. Tolkien and his Estate do.

Of the Book of Mazarbûl
