A/N: The idea occurred to me, and didn't seem to want to be longer than this.
The world is tiny and insignificant and he feels large and lonely in it.
He passes a black hole and sees himself, cosmically rendered. That central crushing emptiness; that whorling and flashing of light across the outer edge. He pauses, door opened, to watch; surrounded by galaxies and the flotsam of space.
And then there is a star, a cloudy dance on the edge of that great abyss. It is curled inwards upon itself, thin folds of gas almost like a flower. Like a rose. The Doctor goes to close the door but doesn't. He keeps watching as the star flares and drifts, drawn closer and closer in towards the centre. The star begins to stretch out, further and longer and thinner, ever-closer to breaking.
The Doctor closes the door upon it all, and the Tardis spins onwards and away.
end.
