AN: Yes, I know this doesn't really fit the time line in the least. Hush and eat your sandwiches.

Cloud shifted his weight uncomfortably

Cloud shifted his weight uncomfortably. It wasn't everyday he sat cross-legged on the ground, but the table who too low to sit on a chair. Cloud looked around the room, taking in the various photos and odd bits scattered around. It was obvious the house was traditionally a male's, but it had several feminine touches. Like, the neat cushions on the couch. The pink photo frames. The shoes arranged at the front door. Oh, and the vases full of delicately coloured flowers.

She was humming in the kitchen. Cloud could hear her as she busied herself. Cloud inspected the long scratch on his arm, it was still weeping blood steadily. Aeris appeared in the doorway, a plate of sandwiches in one hand and a first aid kit in the other. She placed the plate in front of him and motioned that he eat. Then, she opened the kit and pulled out a Potion. Cloud flinched away when she dabbed a cotton ball soaked with Potion to his cut.

Aeris scolded him, "don't be a wimp, you've had much worse wounds than this."

"But this one really stings," Cloud grumbled, staring at the far wall. Aeris pulled away and put the Potion back into the first aid kit. Cloud looked at his arm, still a little surprised at how well Potions worked.

"You haven't eaten anything yet," Aeris picked up the top sandwich and bit into it. Cloud watched her eat.

"I'm not hungry," Cloud responded, examining the sandwiches. Truth was, he wasn't really sure they were edible at all. From what he had glimpsed when Aeris had picked up hers, they seemed to contain both marshmallows and slices of banana. And the blonde was sure he could see a noodle poking out the edge of another. When Cloud looked back at the flower girl she blushed and looked sad.

"Sorry, Zack usually cooks. But he's not going to be back for a while still and all I can make are sandwiches," she apologised quietly. Cloud blushed and mentally berated himself for being so stupid. He reached for the top sandwich.

"No, it's fine," he murmured and took a bite. His eyes widened and he smiled. The combination of banana and marshmallow (and a hint of peanuts) blended nicely with the texture of the crunchy dried noodles. "It's delicious!"

Aeris smiled at him in surprise and finished her sandwich. A comfortable silence descended over the room. Cloud silently thanked the God of Sandwiches for blessing them today.
