Author Disclaimer: I own nothing to do with Homer. My first attempt at a Homer inspired story. My idea concerning Hecuba's reflections upon the past.

I was once a queen.

I was once the most revered woman of an entire kingdom.

I had beautiful children and a wonderful husband.

I was known as Queen Hecuba of Troy.

Until the day my son returned home with Helen, the gods had smiled upon me and granted my every wish and desire. I lived a blessed life..

She came though. She came into our lives and the gods turned against us all. My son was unable to see the good woman he had in his wife, and he threw away his peaceful, blissfully ignorant life, for the love of a woman who never truly loved him. A woman who threatened to abandon him the moment that he needed her most.

The gods toyed with us mortals. Zeus was played upon by Thetis and Hera, who allowed us the make headaway in our war against the Greeks, then crushed us back down. Were we not pawns in the games of the gods? Did not Hera and Athena take their revenge against our entire city, rather than my son for his ill fated decision? Twas only great Apollo and Aphrodite who stood by our side and aided our fight against a foe bigger than us all.

I was known as Queen Hecuba of Troy.

Now, I am not a queen.

I am revered by no one.

My children are all dead along with my husband.

I am known as Sparky the dog.
