English Homework – Haunted House Description
The door slowly creaked open, bashing against the mossy wall with a bang. The smell was unbearably metallic as I stepped inside tripping over a dead rat, I screamed and it echoed around the whole house. I shivered at the sudden rush of cold air coming towards me and I backed towards the door to escape, but it closed abruptly with another clang that rang out around the house. Footsteps came from upstairs, they sounded like they were running, to get away from something maybe. The rush of air began creeping up my back as I stumbled blindly to the closest wall; I tried to keep myself upright, holding the wall for support. But against my hand I felt something sticky and it smelt vile, the smell made my knees collapse, my sights turn a blue colour and a ringing in my ears started. Rapidly I straightened up as a taste entered my mouth, it was something I had never tasted before; it was mix between rust and iron in the back of my throat. Cackles rang out around the house, leaving me ice cold and shivery, I was so terrified that I couldn't move, scream for help or even try to open the oversized door. A dripping came from the staircase, it became louder and louder until the drips took over my whole head, making it ready to burst. However gradually it came to a stop, making the house fall to that deafening silence that I actually hated more than the Chinese torture style dripping. All of a sudden a light turned on in one of the rooms upstairs and a stomping was coming from the aged staircase coming closer and closer. My heart matched the stomps perfectly, but eventually my heart took over and was hammering so hard that I thought it was going to burst. Step by step the stomps were moving onto the ground below my own feet, making my feet shake with the sheer weight of the stomps. After that I was numb, numb with fear I imagined, and couldn't see my feet below me or anything else for that matter. I fell heavily onto the creaky floorboards, which made all the maggots come up and crawl all over me. But I knew I couldn't move, so I didn't bother, I tried to scream but as I did about three maggots crawled into my mouth. Making me choke, I opened my eyes finally seeing the house spinning around me. There was something or someone here with me. I was sure of it. All I could see of the 'person' was a dark shadow merging with the rotting walls as everything spun. I then closed my eyes and went into a very deep sleep.
