Annabeth's Song

By Rushda

She said: You were thirteen and so was I;

I looked at you like the stars that shined

In the sky, like pretty lights.

And the others used to joke about the two of us

Growing up and falling in love

And your mama smiled;

Mine rolled her eyes and said:

Oh my, my, my.

Took me back to the House with pinecone trees,

Said I'd beat you up, tough you were bigger than me,

But I never did, I never did.

Took me back when our world was a few miles wide,

Wished you would kiss me

But you never tried;

Just two kids you and I;

Oh, my, my, my.

I was sixteen when suddenly

I wasn't that little girl you used to see;

But your eyes still shined like pretty lights.

And the others used to joke about the two of us

We never believed we would fall in love

And you mama smile;

Mine rolled her eyes and said:
Oh my, my, my.

Took me back to the times we went out,

Two a.m. kissing in your bunk

And all I need is you next to me.

Took me back to the time we had our very first fight:
Slammin' of doors instead of kissing goodnight

But it was all alright by the morning light.

Oh my, my, my, my.

A few years had gone and come around,

We were sitting at our favourite spot in town,

And you looked at me and got down on one knee…

Take me back to the time when I walked down the aisle;

Our whole Camp came and our mamas cried;

You said "I do" and I did, too.

Took me there to the home we'd only dreamt before,

We'll rock our babies on the very front porch.

After all this time, you and I.

Oh my, my, my.

You'll be eighty-seven and so will I,

I still look at you look the stars that shine

In the sky…

Oh my, my, my.
