The Initiative

Professor Maggie Walsh took her first spent into the underground complex known as the "Initiative", a government funded black ops specialising in the capture and study of otherworldly threats. Demons. She could still hardly believe it, that these creatures exited, hidden away in the corners of the world. Growing fast and gaining reputation as a biologist in several areas, she was drafted by the program almost ten years ago. Now, she had been assigned to be the leader of the first operational base/lab. She was well aware of what an honour it was, and she intended to go down in history with the greatest men and women. Not as the leader of the first fully facilitated program, but as a scientific pioneer, and a hero to humanity. Of course, when actual research and data was released to the world, that was another matter. And it would be released. She'd do her job and she'd do it well, this would NOT be another government failure swept under the rug. She'd be remembered as one of the greats.

Her eyes swept the complex, taking it all in. It was impressive, even she had to admit. And she was not an easily impressed woman. A man in army wear walked up to her. Young, attractive, she had to admit. He held out a hand. "Professor Walsh, Coronal Adam Harkner. Welcome to the base." She shook his hand.

"Thank you Col. Harkner. Is everything going well?"

"Excellent, ma'am. Cells are working like a dream, the boys are ready for action, the scientists are buzzing about the hostiles they'll be studying, and we have the best research equipment in the world brand spanking new. Everyone's happy and eager to get started."

"Good. Well, shall we get started?"

He flashed her a bright smile. "Yes, ma'am."
