Yukitaka Kouri is a Greeed with control over ice and snow. She is/was the daughter of the king that first transformed into OOO 800 years ago. The three animals shown on her white Medals are: a Fukurou, Owl, for her head; a Kuma, Bear, for her torso, and an Ookami, Wolf, for her legs.
800 years ago, the king's daughter grew deathly ill. Hoping to save her, the king turned her into a Greeed using the White Medals. These Medals, instead of being outlined in gold, were outlined in a black metal, and possessed a power that could control the Greeed. She survived the risky process, and chose Kazari and Ankh as her guards. Despite being unable to feel human emotions due to their Greeed natures, both began to develop protective feelings for her, and though these two often fought, they would always manage to put aside their differences when Shirahime, as she was known back then, was in danger.
Shirahime was not sealed with the other Greeed; two weeks before the events that led to the imprisonment of the Greeed, she had been entranced by a green light, and fell into a spring of water that the life essence of the planet had leaked into. Instead of drowning, she fell into a deep sleep. Her body was preserved by the planet's life energy, and she did not wake up until twenty-five years before Hino Eiji became OOO.
As she was still a Greeed, she needed Medals to survive, and only possessed her main Fukurou Medal when she woke up, and eventually found a Kuma and an Ookami just before the other Greeed were reawakened. However, she had become satisfied living like a human, and absorbing her Medals caused her to hunger for more Medals, so she refrained from doing so unless she was sure that she could resist the urge to make Yummies or look for more Medals. Yet the Core Medals were life to her, so she could not keep them out of her forever. Eventually, she absorbed them, and managed to find a few Cell Medals to assuage her hunger. She took on the name Shirayuki Kouri, and cast aside Shirahime to hide her true nature, for a time.
After the end of the canon timeline, she will change her last name from Shirayuki to Yukitaka. She will never take back the name Shirahime ever again.
