The rain had already soaked into her sweatshirt and sneakers as she approached the apartment complex. With a suitcase in each had and a loaded backpack on her shoulders, she could feel her stupidity weighing her down with the luggage. She should've written the address more clearly and she probably should've asked the cab driver for directions earlier when she unknowingly gave directions to a local shop several blocks over.
None of that seemed to matter anymore now that she was standing in front of her new home.
She ran up the stairs that led to apartment 204 and quickly knocked, shivering from the sudden gust of wind adding to the cold.
The door swung open and seconds later a girl answered the door. She had honey-blonde hair with white streaks from previous bleaching cut in a medium length style that suited her oval face shape. Her eyes were a vibrant electric blue that had a particular fierceness to them.
"Well don't just stand there," she said with a smile. "Get in here before you get pneumonia or something." She carefully stepped inside as the blonde closed the door behind her. "You can take the hood off now. You're safe." The hood carefully slid off, revealing hair as dark as the night sky.
"Thanks for taking me in on such short notice, Belle Eve."
"Hey, no big deal. I'm just glad you're out in one piece. God knows what could've happened if your parents caught you." The dark-haired girl tried hiding her guilt. She hadn't seen her parents in years, and it wasn't even them she was particularly worried about.
It was then something occurred to her. They would start searching for her by morning. Her face will be plastered on every source of media they could get their hands on. How could she go unrecognized?
"I was wondering…." The dripping girl asked, "Would you happen to have any hair dye?"
"Yeah…. Why do you ask?"
"I just don't…." She couldn't find the words to explain.
"Want to risk being recognized and shipped back home?" The girl nodded, knowing that what she was agreeing to wasn't a total lie. "No sweat." Belle Eve was about to run to the bathroom before she stopped and turned back around. "Do ya mind if I make a suggestion? It's a bit outrageous, but it might work on you."
"Well, what do you have in mind?"
Belle Eve beamed with excitement, "How do you feel about bleach?"
A few hours and bottles of hair dye later, the black hair was gone. Instead, she had blue hair that was almost as vibrant as Belle Eve's eyes.
She stared at herself in the mirror as she took in her new appearance.
No longer was she Princess Luna of Equestria. She was now Nyx. A gamer. A girl with blue hair.
And now, free to be whomever she wanted.
Yes, I did get Belle Eve from the Molestia Tumblr blog. I thought she would be a great character to house Luna and would be someone who would still understand Luna's plight even if she doesn't know all of the details yet ;)
Hope you all enjoy it so far!
